Is it me, or did Dave Lovering seem to be really into OMD? What a sweet, sweet voice...

It definitely appeals to chicks. My wife loves it. I'm sick of it.

I'm pretty sure this song is ironic and not really about love...it has kind of a creepy undertone to it, in the guitar and Dave Lovering's vocals

Its all FOUR of them trading off "first base, second base, third base, home run" just like how all 4 trade off "I love you, I love you I love you...I do."

I don't know about that, the "bases" part all sounds like the same voice to me........

Nothing is ever something.

Wow, I've always wondered what he was saying there; have to check it later. (Realmean: I think it's after he says 'Don't mean maybe', from memory.)

Frank did mention somewhere something about this most definitely not being a love song. It's a horny leering song disguised as a love song.

It's definately tongue in cheeck, intentionally cheesy, I am pretty sure I read something somewhere that confirmed that.

nah, its just him on the bases thing. its pretty funny, its like he's trying(and succeeding, by his orgasmic groan on 'home run!') to get a girl into bed by saying he loves her. and he sounds creepy. its great!

Not one of my favorite songs but I do enjoy listening to it sometimes...I like the way the drum sounds at the beginning.

I LOVE La la, and Dave's voice in particular (I also love Make Beleive). I don't know if I'd like a whole album of his Mike Flowers Pop vocal stylings, but La La Love You is ace. I especially love the drums at the begining (stop stealing my thoughts you vile wankstress), and I have never heard the 1st base, 2nd base, etc part before. That's scary. I've listened to that countless times and never noticied that.

Funny song....I thought they were kinda poking fun at the genre...that and "La-La (Means I Love You)" by the Delphonics.

Love those drums, intro especially. All around great song that combined so many elements.
Anyway, the 1st base thing comes in low, center at the 1:11 mark.

Regards,
spoon
