Yay! The Pixies documentary "Gouge" will be shown in the US on 8/19 at 10AM and 7PM on the TRIO channel. This makes me want to order digital cable today...argh!

| Thanks for the tip. I got DirecTV (which has Trio) 6 months ago-- it's great. What a glorious day it was when I called my cable company and told them to disconnect their worthless, overpriced piece-of-shit service. |

BLT: how much are you paying for directtv versus what you were paying for cable? I priced em both out before and cable was still cheaper.

I was paying about $45/month for analog cable. They hadn't added any new channels in over two years-- just the kind of complacency you'd expect from a half-assed monopoly. Mofo cable systems act like they're doing you a favor by letting you be their customer! Now I'm paying $37.99 for DirecTV. I think it went up a buck right after I signed up, but they guarantee your original price for a year. I get lots more stations now, including all the locals. I bought the dish online-- all I had to pay was $15 shipping with a one year commitment. Totally worth it. I'll give you the URL where I bought it if you want it. |

Definitely interesting. Unfortunately, I'm unable to get satellite where I'm living (no dishes can be installed). I'm able to get digital cable + internet for something like $82 a month. The digital cable system here has all the channels I want/need, so I'm happy.

i just found that out, too. came running here to tell everyone, but made sure to do a search before. unfortunately, i don't have trio. however, if it'll be on the DVD, then no big loss. interviews with members, etc. but what about concert footage?
does anyone know how much this DVD is going to be? |

I just checked the dish guide and the times that El Barto gave are Eastern Standard. It would be 7AM and 4PM Pacific for all us west coasters. Central and mountain viewers can figure it out (I'm too tired to do that--on deadline.)
TiVO is set and ready to go.
I didn't know that Trio airs old Letterman. I'll keep an eye on out for the Pixies appearance. Thanks Chris K!

| I've got a Pixies vid on VHS that has the Letterman apperance on it. I believe Kim and Dave don't even play on it, they just sit there with tambourines or something while Lettermans' band plays along w/ FB and Joey. I'll have to dig that out again, it's been so long I can't rem. the tune they did... |

| i just downloaded this doc not to long ago and final watched it tonight, i really enjoyed it. too bad no current interviews with kim though. does any one know if the show they keep showing live clips from is available in a full length show for sale or download anywhere? the live clips were awesome. |

i realize the dvd is coming eventually, but in theory putting this up would be no different than putting up a performance from a late nite show. it's public display, right?

I could be wrong, but what I've noticed is that Trio seems to have about 50 Letterman episodes that they rotate ad nauseum. You might be waiting a while for that Pixies episode to show up. |

Yeah, you're probably right. I do have a VHS copy of the appearance, but the first 20 seconds are missing. I just figured it'd be cool if a hardier Pixies fanatic could let us (me) know when the episode actually airs so I can tape it. No big deal, really.
If only Bravo would put Twin Peaks back on the air. Now that's a big deal. (Hey, I'm gonna use that as my signature!) |

The documentary seemed to be a little short. Does anyone know if Trio trimmed anything from it? Jo?
Seeing all the live footage and home video was super cool though. The Town and Country Club gig will be great to see in full. The DVD release just won't come soon enough for me!

the doc i downloaded was about 40-45 min. with no commercials. i liked it alot, i just wish the was new footage of kim, like there was of everyone else, just to see what she has to say on it all. i did think that when it ended it was just gettting started for me. i wonder if the dvd might have a lnger version maybe. and yeah the town and country full length will be awesome. i just realized that the live songs on the gigantic cd single are from there too.

| I think the version on the DVD will be the same as shown - we don't know anything here about it being edited, but there was no Kim footage (not on purpose, she just couldn't fit in with the filmmakers schedules). Lets just say, when you get the DVD, you wont be unhappy with Kim footage... |
