So, there's a thread where folks are listing the bands or artists they regret never having the chance (or skipping the opportunity) to see.
Normally, I avoid those sorts of threads, but after I posted my losses, it got me thinking that an interesting window into the different personalities on this site would be to have a brief glance at what they felt were the most noteworthy shows they HAD seen.
These can be shows you feel are noteworthy just because you had the chance to be in the same room or arena with a particular performer of note during your lifetime, or because the performances themselves were out of this world (or otherwise blew your mind).
For what it's worth, here's the shows that moved me the most – in no particular order (some are multiple sightings):
Miles Davis Bob Dylan Sun Ra and his Intergalactic Arkestra Jonathan Richman Moe Tucker Webb Wilder John Lee Hooker Willie Dixon John Hammond, Jr. Camper Van Beethoven Pixies Frank Black (with and without The Catholics) Alex Chilton The Swimming Pool Q's Love Tractor Pylon R.E.M. Concrete Blonde Tony Williams The John McLaughlin Trio w./Trilok Gurtu Al Green Patti Smith Steel Pulse Kathy McCarty Cracker Matthew Sweet Warren Zevon The Replacements (farewell tour) Michael Nesmith X (the original lineup) Levon Helm They Might Be Giants Elvis Costello Glass Eye ZZ Top Brian & The Nightmares The Smithereens NRBQ The Jayhawks Monks of Doom The Ottoman Empire LMNOP The Wallmen The Ramones Emmylou Harris w/Buddy & Julie Miller Arturo Sandoval Robyn Hitchcock Cheap Trick Joan Jett Tinsley Ellis Pinetop Perkins Koko Taylor Superdrag Steve Earle Lucinda Williams The Five Blind Boys David Cross George Carlin Shemekia Copeland The Jody Grind The Feelies Mother's Finest Pere Ubu The Flat Duo Jets Magnet The Fleshtones The Woggles The Forty-Fives Dick Dale James Blood Ulmer Buddy Guy Leon Redbone Eddie Money (this is true) Sleepy Labeef David Allan Coe Willie Nelson
What great shows have the rest of you seen?

you guys got some pretty serious lists..
i've seen a bunch of bands, but the most special:
got to see Black Francis solo in 91 (my first time seeing him).. best show ever.
got to see Nirvana before they were big, opening for Dinosaur Jr (it was impossible for Dinosaur Jr to follow them up)..
saw Devo on their reunion tour in 96 or whenever it was.. i'm anti-reunion shows, but this was fucking great.
saw Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros right before he died. played some early early Clash. too good. |

Frank Black & C's a few months ago. All we get are metal and pop bands, never dreamed he'd make it here. Smashing Pumpkins at Edgefest, sadly weren't very memorable. |

Peter Radiator, I always liked some of Concrete Blonde (God is a Bullet kicks ass) but I was so impressed seeing them live. I don't know the ladys name but she has one of the most fantastic voices I ever heard. |

Air Supply! I would've liked to see Air Supply. How old are you anyways mere? You can understand why I'm asking if you have groups like Styx on there.
I'm happiest with having seen the following groups but in very small venues. Radiohead Tool FB Weezer |

OMG, how did I forget Weezer? I saw them on the Pinkerton tour and it rocked.
I'm 33-11/12ths (but who's counting?) Air Supply was the first show I ever saw. I was 12 and I made out in the balcony with Eric Shry. I can't remember which song was "our song." I saw Styx on the "Kilroy Was Here" tour and it was amazingly craptacular. They even showed a little 13 minute film to set up the "plot" for the concept album. It was hilarious. |

I'm lucky that I got to see most of my favorite people: BELLY FRANK BLACK many times and hopefully more THROWING MUSES also KRISTIN HERSH solo A great singer who records shitty songs now CYNDI LAUPER I would have rather seen her back around True Colors or A Night To Remember instead of '99 opening for Cher DIVINYLS ELVIS COSTELLO at a club finally a couple weeks ago DAVID BYRNE My one big disappointment is when I had a ticket for MADONNA during the Blond Ambition tour and it was cancelled the day of the show because of a sore throat |

About 5 years ago I actually got to see the Bay City Rollers in a small pub. I love Shang-a-lang. It was pretty much the funniest show I ever saw. Lots of older ladies dressed all in plaid dying to get backstage. |
