anyone actually read the Case For Mars or Entering Space? I thought they were both very influential. The Case For Mars especially. I saw Bob Zubrin on a BBC Space Documentary; either New Worlds or Boldly Go, I forget which; and he was nothing like I expected. He seems really focused on his Mars Direct plan and space exploration in general. Mathematical guru but speaks in lay terms.

One who does not experience the permeation of slander and who is not agitated by accusations can certainly be called 'enlightened.' Indeed, such a person may be called 'transcendent.

I read ACFM a couple of years ago. It was a great book...Zubrin spends most of the time thoroughly explaining why Mars is reachable with less money, technology, beauracracy than is present in NASA, but the first few chapterts were my favorite part. He sort of recasts the Frederick Jackson Turner "Frontier Hypothesis" to apply to Mars and space exploration, which I found fairly convincing. He does some great astronomy, exploration history too. Great read!

Somehow, I happened to reading the book when DITS came out (mostly b/c of the KS Robinson's Mars Trilogy, to which Frank gave nods on TOTY..and naturally, found it crazy that Frank had a blatant reference to the book. The same thing happened several years back. I coincidentally came across the quotes and subject matter for the Ole Mullholland in the reading for a college class (see "Rivers in the Desert", dont know author). So I like to think that Frank and I have a loose intellectual bond.
