i've always been a tri-fold man myself.. i prefer having more credit card slots, and am just generally more comfortable the the feeling of unfolding two flaps..

part of me wonders: wouldn't it be time-saving (over a lifetime) to just have a bi-fold?

AND, correct me if i'm wrong, but would't a bi-fold actually be less bulky, because of less folding?

opinions?

I've totally stopped using a wallet. Now it's just the essentials: ID, Debit Card, Visa, cash, all in a slim, neat, classy money clip. As soon as I find a money clip I like. It's hard to find a good one.

I have a bi-fold. I've had the same wallet for at least 5 years. I also like money clips but don't have one.

Tri-folds seem to be to thick for me; I like a thin wallet. I don't want a George Costanza wallet. Are there quad-folds?

I have a theory that floop is testing to see how trivial a topic people will respond to. Next week: "Should I wear my blue shirt or my green shirt?"

Trifold, no velcro.

darwin, i don't think that theory even needs to be tested... :) that's what i love about this group though.

proverbial, that's pretty funny, i TOTALLY have the "constanza wallet".. i always have way too much stuff in there.

as for money clips, i don't think i'd feel safe having my credit cards and id in a clip.. but money clips are admittedly more suave.

hmm.

Money clips are alright.

Just don't go for that tacky leather-sleeve-with-magnet-arm thing.

Personally, I go for the L-Shaped wallet.

Tri-fold...more space, more secure...bi-folds seem to open too easily, whereas a tri-fold needs that "little extra effort" to get open. I don't know, mine is falling apart, but I have like, 2 backups. Why do people give me wallets for Christmas?

Bi-folds look ugly. Tri-folds are the coolest.

Bi-folds are easier to slip out of the pocket of the man you are kissing.

I was a bi-fold man (dating back to the days when I had no credit cards), but my wife gave me a tri-fold as a Xmas gift. It's a thicker wallet but that's okay-- several years ago I migrated from back pocket to front pocket, so wallet girth is really no longer an issue. It's better for preserving spinal alignment and harder to pickpocket, too.

I'm intensely tri-fold, I have a worn leather wallet of many years, and I wouldn't have it any other way. To use a Mark E Smith term, all you money clip guys are "fancy dans"

No, those make too much noise when you open them. Rrrrrrrip! Kinda cheesy like velcro shoes, you know what I'm sayin'?

Suppose I take a young lady out for drinks...

J Mascis: Garcon!

Waiter: How may I serve your Jazzmasterness?

J Mascis: I'll take the bill now please.

Waiter: Very good sir. I will be back shortly.

-Waiter exits.

J Mascis: So Candy, you were saying...

Candy: ...yea so, this totally ugly guy was hitting om me yesterday and I was like ewww and he was like...

J Mascis: Oh! That was quick.

Waiter: Thank you sir and enjoy your evening.

J Mascis: Thank you garcon.

-Looks at bill.

-Reaches for wallet...rrrrip!

-Puts down money.

J Mascis: Ok baby, let's get outa here, what do you say we go to your place? My buddy Frank is crashing on my couch so we can't really have any privacy there...if you know what I mean. *wink*

Candy: Sure, we can go to my place...if you can handle it. *wink*

-10 minutes go by, Candy and J step into candy's appartment.

Candy: Take you shoes off big boy.

J Mascis: Ok...rrrip! rrrip!

...see what I mean?

I have an L-shaped like that picture obfuscate posted. I put my drivers license in the flippety-flap part. It's so much cooler with that flip-up when someone asks to see ID. It's like you flip it and you get this cool breeze blown in your face because you need to be cooled off because you are just so hot with your L-shape wallet.

I'm a strong supporter of the bi-fold wallet, the others seem too thick.

aside from the few alternative wallet methods (like the money clip and nimrodsons's mysterious "no fold" wallet), it seems to me people are pretty evenly divided on this issue.

derek, i agree that the flip-out ID section can be cool, but i swear to god (and this is something i feel very strongly about), i HATE those plastic transparent sleeves that hold your ID. they always seem to fall apart, long before the rest of the wallet. you have this nice leather wallet that SHOULD last you years and years, but the stupid plastic ID holder usually falls apart within the first 6 months to a year (like my current wallet)..

maybe i should just invent my own wallet.. this "no fold" concept does have me intrigued, i can't deny it.

hmmm.

I have a no fold wallet too.

basically, it's a bi-fold wallet which I keep unfolded in my custom made extra long pocckets.

this way I get all keep all my cards together with no unsightly bulge.

A no-fold wallet sounds weird. It sounds like the difference between a post card and an envelope (envelope being the bi-fold). A postcard is just there and anyone can read it. But an envelope is private. My money and ID need a little privacy.

a no fold wallet is like walking around naked in public. I know it's wrong but it feels so good.
