Hello !
I guess this question has been asked several times, but I am looking for artists, who make as good music as Frank Black does. I know there must be some almost unknown CD's, that only you know, which are just brilliant. So please let me know. I especially like Dog in the Sand - strong, but clean guitar sound and a strong voice My favourites are (besides Frank Black of course): - Liz Phair: Exile in Guyville - PJ Harvey: Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea Which are your favorites ? |

<sigh> Why do people post the same message in more than one place? Please, once is enough. |

Sorry, I have posted it in the wrong place and noticed it too late. I thought nobody would read it in the "off topic" place.

Hi Valhalla, meet Dean, he really doesn't like it when people start the same threads over and over and over. He's not scared to make fun of you and make ya cry over it either. |

Very true. He has deep seeded anger issues coupled with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. He makes people cry on a semi-daily basis, if you include the amount of times per week he himself bursts into tears for no apparent reason. Sometimes he sighs so deeply he slips into a brief coma. |

<sob> None of that's true, you <getting angry> $%^@%^*%#@ @$%)%@ @$%@))(*(^&(*#$@% *($@%@)'s.
Crazy... I hit those keys so fast that my computer beeped... it's like it was censoring my censoring.
OK, let's dedicate this thread to welcoming Valhalla to the board, so that I might also add benevolence to my narcoleptic behavioural patterns.
Valhalla, welcome to FB.net, great to have you aboard, and to have Germany represented. Not sure that we have any other Germans here. Then again, the point is moot since, as you are probably aware, all of Europe, Germany included, is under the control of Saskatoon, from which there are at least two (2) FB.net members. However, I smell a triumvirate cooking... |

Yeah, crossposting sucks. I would venture to guess that most people read the entire board instead of a single section...it's not like the forum gets a TON of traffic that makes it impossible for one to read the entire board without having to sit down for 2 hours. |

Thanks for your welcome message. I am looking forward to see Frank Black live in Germany, when he comes - hopefully - in autumn. "Rasthof - Zwanzig Kilometers bis Rasthof" Frank sings in Blastoff, this is german and you can read it at the high way. So Frank has some knowledge of the German language too [;-)]. I know that Frank is quite unknown here in Germany. That's what makes him even more interesting. I especially like "unknown", but excellent artists. Bye the way, I found on CDBaby.com an artists called "CHRISTOPHER VAN EPPS". He has been influenced by FB and the music sounds quite interesting. Listen to "Beautiful", if you like, see www.cdbaby.com/cd/cvanepps .

Being the Moderator Jim, your the only person who notices (so do your job) Hi Valhalla! Music to me, is music, I really think people should stop chasing after bands or what ever that they think sounds like thier favorite musician or band. You should just listen to what ever you hear and judge it on it's own merits. I think alot of musicans who want to sound like someone else come off alot worse then the origanal(only the brave and talanted pull it off). The more unique the better I say, and it's also about when and where you hear something, it gives it more meaning and power personally to you. Sorry if I sound negative, but if you look for someone who dosnt sound like Frank you'll probably enjoy him even more?(does that make sence?) and find lots of diverse and equaly beautiful music. Happy posting.(I love Stories from the..., have yet to hear Liz Phair, heard good things from Ramona and horrible reveiws of her new album) My recommendation would be Len Parrot's Memorial Lift by Baxter Dury! P.S I sound really patronizing but dont hold it against me!!!!!

Christoper Van Epps is actually a member of Frank Black.net and is contributing (or rather, has contributed) an interesting take on Skeleton Man. I think if you like Frank's sound, why not look for more of the same, but don't limit it to that. If you haven't heard Spoon, for example, I'd highly recommend them, they have a pretty unique and tasty sound. |

Of course, I understand. I am not looking for "copy-artists" of Frank's music. I think "Exile in Guyville" by Liz Phair does not sound like FB, but I like it very much ! I also like bands like Air or even Dubstar (British dreamy electro-pop). Thanks for all your recommendations. I will try listen to it.

Ha ha! I knew I was being patornizng, forgive me , but I hate people looking for bands that sound like this or that (I told you not to hold it against me! ). Virgin Suicides is my all time favorite Air album, even they now how to rock! Peace & love!
