Scott can sure as hell pull off Freedom Rock live, and it's a beautiful sight, but Nick came up with it. That song blows me away every time, just from a drumming stand point. That being said, I don't know if I can pick between the two. Nick seems a lil' more flashy, which better matched the music he played on, while Scott is a little more traditional and subdued, which is what Frank's stuff has called for more recently. I like 'em both I guess, with an edge to Scott, because he's been around longer, I've seen him live, and he was so darn nice to us in Regina. Also, he's a really talented drummer. Can't even see his hands during the fast part of Los Angeles. |

Yeah, watching him play Los Angeles is pretty amazing. And meanwhile he's sitting back and doesn't even look the least bit strained. My vote is for Scott. |

They both sound the same to me, I guess because I've never seen either one live and I don't play drums |

I think speedy M put it well, in that thier styles suits Franks new artistic directions(Could we have heard Dave Lovering playing ska rythems ala Fiddle Riddle?). I have to say I was'nt paying much attention to Scott my first and only time I saw Frank play but the drums on Mosh Dont Pass the Guy made me start to play drums abit more seriously trying to figure out what he was doing on the bass. I love the start of So Bay and I'd love to see him play Los Angeles and Suffering live but Nick has to be my fave, I love that Paris recording and the drums on Handy Man, he really bangs the shit out of them.

i've seen Scott Boutier, I know Scott Boutier, and you sir (Nick Vincent) are no Scott Boutier...although you are pretty damn good. You have to hand it to Scott, the rhythm changes in 'men in black' and 'i need peace' seem magical due to his skills....although Dave Lovering and Nick Vincent are dang good.....creatively, praises go to the man.....

Nick Vincent's technique may be more advanced, but Scott's drumming serves the music better. And that makes him better.

Honestly, I don't think Scott's drumming is all that hot. He's a great drummer, granted, but he always seems to default to the same drum style. David Lovering blows them all away. |

El Barto, you shouldn't focus on the Allison video. Lovering blows nothing away, at all.

David Lovering is a solid drummer, no doubt about that. But I can't agree w/ you, Barto, on that he blows Scott Boutier and Nick Vincent away. He just doesn't! |
