Ah, it's shaping up to be quite the stinking piece of crap, just as I expected.
I don't know whether to see this just out of purely morbid curiosity, or to just avoid it like the plague. |

yes? why?
is it because it's wrong to tell more people about Charles Thompson/Frank Black/Pixies, because you want to keep them for yourself and don't want your 12 year old neighbour to listen to them?
If that is indeed your reason Then I think you're right That's how I see it
But it might be a litle bit selfish from us

Maybe I'm extremely biased, because i hate musicals as an 'art form.' I think there is just something very contrived about someone singing their internal monologue out loud. I think even the least annoying ones are still pretty cheesy, and if I want to see performance art I'll more likely go to a play where there isn't the risk of someone breaking out into song every five minutes.
That said....it just feels dirty to see one of my all-time favorite bands being the centerpiece of an off-Broadway musical. The thought of Pixies songs being revamped into this over-the-top style and the possiblity of some horrid "medley" of three or more songs strung together just...makes me think its going to be crap.
But I'm just not a big fan of musicals...
If this turns out to be some awesome masterpiece, then I give you all the permission berate me for being a judgmental dickhead who jumps to conclusions. But I have a pretty strong feeling about this one. |

Right, but c'mon... it's gonna be hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. I'd buy this soundtrack in a second. Crap, I'd drive up to New York to catch it. |

i can only imagine the disgusting literal interperitations of the song lyrics.

Ingersoll, that's a pretty good signiture, I have to say.
The whole concept of the show seems kind of strange...I guess I never pictured Frank up in his room dreaming "someday I'm gonna be a rockstar" while looking at the stars through his window. I guess he must have at some point...I think a more interesting concept would be Frank Black starving to death in Spain with Crackity Jones as his roommate thinking "screw this, I'm going back to America to form a rock band with Joey". |
