I think there were other forum members there, but I'm still buzzing so I thought I'd go ahead. I didn't get a chronological setlist because I only had my PDA to write on and it's really brite. I thought I saw a woman keeping track though, so maybe she'll add to this. Frank was in a good mood wearing a black collared shirt with embroidered flowers on it. His voice sounded better than I've ever heard it, especially belting out "Isabel". The new songs are amazing. Here are the songs he played:
Abstract Plain All My Ghosts Billy Radcliffe (made it the whole way through) Shrimp Song Black Rider California Bound Cold Heart of Stone Brackish Boy End of Miles Cactus Goodbye Lorraine Headache Doggone The Swimmer Horrible Day Humbolt County Massacre (said "Staple Mill" instead of "Paper Mill") New House of the Pope New song "Madams at 9" (Massif Centrale?) Robert Onion Everything is New Sister Isabel The Snake Wave of Mutilation Monkey's Gone to Heavan Holiday Song Nimrod (aborted) Where Is My Mind Whiskey In Your Shoes The Farewell Bend Chip Away Boy Valentine and Garuda New Song he said we wouldn't know but he was practicing earlier in his suite (Coastline?)
Thanks again Kevin for hooking me up with that ticket!

Wow, so so awesome!
I was the woman Atheist mentioned writing the songs down AND Frank played Valentine because I REQUESTED IT!! Here is the song order and some comments;
Monkey The Shrimp Song Nimrods Son - which he stopped after about a verse and said he was still with the shrimp. "I'm still in the shrimp song" then he went right into - Brackish Boy Billy Radcliffe Horrible Day Abstract Plain Dog Gone The Swimmer Headache House of the Pope Whiskey in Your Shoes So then he is just kinda playing a riff on his guitar and he says like 'don't mind me, I'm just going through my songs in my head' He says "I'll think of something...sometimes it takes up to five minutes". And I said "Valentine!" He looks at me and goes "Valentine, per request" Then he says (paraphrasing here) "So, I'm walking around and I go by this Hindu temple and see a bird...I'm barefoot..." I laughed or was like "Woo!" and he says "she's with me". So, Valentine and Garuda Black Rider Goodbye Lorraine (he starts playing something and then stops and says "there are lots abortions in my accoustic shows") Holiday Son Cold Heart of Stone All my Ghosts California Bound - as he was singing this and "bouuuund" & said "I like the ooooooonnn words". Cactus (very happy!) End of Miles The Snake Farewell Bend Robert Onion Humbolt - as Atheist mentioned he changed "paper mill" to "staple mill" and he said afterwards that was the first time he actually changed the place/thing in a song. Chip Away Boy Massif Central Wave of Mutilation - after that he looked at his list and said he was going to stick with a "nautical theme" for the encore. He said he saw three nautical songs on his list, people started yelling things out and he said "I know what they are" which cracked me up. He played another new song, which he said he just rehearsed in his suite, implying it was really new. He also said "you guys don't know this" - was something like Cresent City...pity, lucky, I don't know. Where is my mind Then he said he was going to break out of the nautical theme - "someone said 'Sister Isabel'...I like that song". So, last song was Sister Isabel.
It was just very cool. I am humbled!
I have to thank Kevin too, I really appreciate your generousity and willingness to share. You gave me faith in some of the grumps on this forum.

Yeah, I think he said something like "I'm not Hindi, but I dig the whole barefoot thing"
I was wondering if that was you ramona. The only thing I had to go one was your profile photo which is sort of warped looking. There were about 5 ladies there that could've fit your picture and I didn't feel right going around and saying "Hi, by any chance is your name Emily?" to each one. I should've guessed that the lady sitting front and center who'd been there before I got there at 10ish was you.

Hey I was there... ALL THREE NIGHTS! Completely mind blowing. Frank you are incredible!
On Thursday- I was front and center two feet from Frank, on Friday next to the juke and Saturday behind ramona (I saw you request Valentine) next to the mirror.
I made recordings with my minidisc. If you have high speed internet let me know and I'll send you a link.

Yeah, let's get a link! I was kicking myself for not borrowing my friend's minidisc.
I was in a red plaid shirt sitting in front of the bar on Saturday.

To Atheist and Ramona:
I'm glad you guys enjoyed the show. I wish I could have been there. I'm just glad that I was able to go Thursday. If I had those Sat tix and wasn't able to go at all, I think I would have shot myself.
Just remember that payback is a bitch. |

Yeah, that's great, I'm sad I missed it. Unfortunately I can't find my way around Boston AT ALL, so if I went solo to any rendezvous I surely would have been lost..that's where my friends come in handy. I'm sad I missed it. |
