I was just watching one of the best trash tv specials ever, i love the 80s, on vh1, and under "births of 1986", they mention the pixies and showed a 2 second clip from (i believe) the "monkey" video.

just though i'd pass it along...

even though the 80's were quite trashy, when ever vj's and or dj's referred to 'alternative' or 'new' music, they were actually pretty good bands. today, when we hear about 'new' music or 'alternative' or 'edge', they wind up putting on a band like Creed, or some band of young idiots still playing a dumbed down, watered down, 'your parents may like it', poppy version of punk....

The commentators were excellent. I really enjoyed that series, it brought back a lot of childhood memories. `

I enjoy this show alot. I just saw this "1986 births" yesterday in fact. And I JUST turned to VH1 and it was that part. One weird thing is that another birth of 1986 was the Goo Goo Dolls!! It's sad to think they are that old and they are getting recognition still. They need to break up and go away.

oh i LOVE that show. When they mentioned the Pixies as 1986 births I freaked out!! Who would've thought VH1 would mention the Pixies? Oh wait, they were #81 in the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Bands.:)

That show brought a lot of memories for me, that was my childhood 1980-1989 WOW!! The year I was born, 1980, wow! awesome series though, never get sick and tired of it. But lately they have been showing it like almost every single week!!

peace, love and rock on,
nadia

I had a problem with the commentators, Michael Ian Black, who was great on the State played it really sarcastic and deadpan but for some reason, nothing he said was very funny. Maybe cause it's VH1 and he couldn't really get perverse like I'm sure he's capable of.
