It's not really a conspiracy (tho i guess it could be of sorts..) but in light of recent 'people freaking out' here's what we know about the US and Mad Cow disease:
Number of cattle in 2002: ~100 million Number of cattle checked for BSE in 2002: 20,000
Number of cattle found in 2002 with BSE: 0
Hmm..any wonder why there weren't any found?
Percentage 20 thousand out of 100 million is: 0.02%
Percentage of cattle tested for BSE in 2002 in the EU: 100%
It should also be noted it takes something like 2 - 20 years for physical symptoms of BSE to 'appear' in cattle (and humans). Most of these cattle are killed by their second year of life. So they may have it, but it isn't visible.
Same with humans..we're literally sitting on a time-bomb here. Every one of us might have TSE, and not know it for another 20yrs. In humans, the symptoms are almost identical to Alzheimer's disease..and there's literally warehouses full of people with Alzheimer's. (And when they die, they don't check these people for TSE..)
And of course, tho we're not feeding cows to cows, we're still feeding pigs and chickens to cows.
My solution: go vegan. |

I didn't realize cows ate meat.
anyway, my conspiracy theory, based on years of speculation, is that Frank's flatulence smells of roses.
sorry, 30 page of paper writing in 2 days can make someone say things like that. |

I'm not sure that cows do eat meat... seems a little like someone has been taken in by the vegans. Come on... Vegans? A name like that just screams 'cult'. And I should know. :) |

Heres a conspiracy theory..... I read in a biography about Marilyn Monroe that at one point in her life Sinatra spiked her drink and then when she was unconscious he committed sexual acts on her.
Also, Bobby Kennedy was supposed to have visited her house about 2 hours before she was found dead, yet when he was questionned he denied ever having been in L.A. on the day of her death.
Furthermore, some of her supposed close friends, her housekeeper and her physician were apparently employed by the CIA (or it might have been the FBI).... so while she thought that they were her friends, they were in actual fact keeping a close eye on her behavior as she reportedly knew more than she should of about the dealings of the Kennedy brothers, and due to her emotional problems she was threatening to leak the story to the press.
It was an interesting read to tell you the truth, but I guess with any conspiracy theory book you have to take alot with a pinch of salt.

Cows shouldn't eat meat and don't out of choice. If you really want to put yourself off meat read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. And frankly vegans aren't much safer, what with GM crops and all. I myself have rather a strong stomach so tend not to worry about these things (see other treads, eh stu?).
It reminds me of a rather poor joke:
Two cows are standing in a field. One cow turns to the other and says "Are you worried about this mad cow disease?". The other cow says "Nope, I'm a squirrel."
Sorry.

haw haw..funny joke. =P
Cows are herbivores, but in order to avoid creating yet more waste, they (farmers) feed parts of chickens, pigs, horses and turkeys to the cows. So they save money in garbage, and have 'protein' to feed their animals.
This can also include fecal matter of the animals.
Isn't that more than a little disturbing??
As for GE, i find a lot of the vegans i know are quite informed about their food, and avoid GE products.
Not to be used as an excuse, but no one has died from GE foods so far, but a few hundred have gotten TSE/CJD and ended up with sponge for brains. |

Fuck! Dave, if you're a vegan then I'm not too sure if we can be mates!
On the serious side, fruit and veg in China are widely grown using human shite as fertiliser, which is fucking disgusting.... so even though Bandan (Rich) copped out on eating his own shit, he has probably had a mouthful of some smelly peasant's..... but then again if that's the case then so have I..... sheeeeeeet!

I was munching through quickly washed apples, skin and all before i was told about this human shit thing. Does it still count for the Y1000? GM foods have not killed anyone yet, as far as we know. But the testing has not been carried out enough and once it's in the environment then getting it out is impossible. Through cross pollenation it will nigh impossible to find "natural" fruit and veg. The best way to stop this is to stop shopping at the big supermarkets and support local farmers. Easy in England, not sure about elsewhere. |

I don't know how "easy" it may be in many parts of the US, but most cities I've livd in (the operating word here is "cities" I suspect) have some kind of natural foods co-op run by a bunch of hippies who went to business school. I belong to one that not only stocks organic vegetarian food, but "organic" meat -- animals that were fed organic grain and feed, were treated humanely, etc. A good portion of the food is indeed produced by local farmers, and for a variety of chemical, social and political reasons that's why I prefer shopping there. I love vegetarian food, but I have to admit, I love a good steak as well. It's hard to find a store that stocks the organic meat, since most people who are really concerned about that sort of thing usually end up going veggie anyway, and it does get a bit pricey. However, I've found I've cut down my meat consumption substantially anyway, so the extra I pay for the meat really evens out.
Its heartening, on the other hand, to see that many grocery stores are featuring organic/natural foods sections -- my local huge, warehouse type store has devoted a good 15% of their floor space to it. They're not doing this to be nice guys, clearly there's a growing market for it and the more that market grows, the better off I think we'll all be.
BTW, how 'bout that engineered fish the the Bush administration is trying to allow into the literal "mainstream"? |

An interesting note about human feces.. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but i've heard that it's safe to add feces from a vegan to compost, but not from a vegetarian or meat-eater.
And, if you don't mind me taking this a step further..feces from herbivores is almost always more 'pleasant' than from omni's / carni's.
Take a look at bunny, deer, horse or cow poo, then look it from dogs or cats, or humans.. No doubt which i'd rather stick my had in a pot of.
Go veg. |

Back to Conspiracies: Oil Companies have local Civil Engineers on their payroll to make sure commuters spend more time idling away at ill timed traffic signals. Since they already have stalled the development of efficent mass transit is many large cities, these cartels now dictate the ebb and flow of traffic as well. |

When I start letting crap dictate my food choices, it'll be time to do a bit more than "go veg". Maybe like, "Go psychiatrist", or something.

Well, fertilizers are commonly animal shit or human, take your pick--it's shit either way. I used to work at a sewerage plant, and they sold a form of fertilizer made from treated & sterilized sewage. It wasn't as though someone just dumped a huge pile of actual shit on their fields. (They also displayed all the toys they retrieved from grates in the system on a shelf with a banner over it that read "Toys of the Underworld", but that's neither here nor there.)
I'm with blackpurse on the organic meat thing. If you eat meat, it's definitely the safest and most humane way to go. Part of the problem is simply the way that things are processed and the unsanitary conditions in plants. I'm allergic to beef, so I haven't had any (except for two accidental ingestions) in about thirteen years. Interestingly (and I'm sure not coincidentally), I haven't had any sort of stomach virus/puking sickness in all this time (unless it was hangover-induced!) There is no meat more handled and contaminated than the ground beef in fast food joints. I've watched my husband get at least one good (?) case of food poisoning a year now from fast food and I'm convinced that I'm not really missing much here. |

I like MacDonalds, but do understand what I am eating is a pile of horseshit.... saying that it does do wonderous things to a hangover. Last night I picked up the book Fast Food Nation after Rich recommended it earlier in this thread, it'll be interesting to see if that has any effect on my future fast food intake.

Hey there!
Its not good for you to eat human shit even from the healthiest man alove, all kinds of toxins exist in the body and are purged that way regardless of if it is a vegetarian, vegan, or even Stu! Eating shit is inadvisable at whatever time, that said I have to admit to being the prime fund raiser behind bandan's shit eating near miss (we raised enough money by the way, he just bottled it). And cows do eat meat, although they don't hunt and forage for it of course, they are fed the crushed up spinal columns of sheep which is what is widely believed to have caused mad cow disease, obviously they dont go out and find a dead sheep and crush its spine and then eat it, it is the pernicious work of the white man that has made them do this, hobody knows if the cows actually are into eating this stuff but I guess they dont really care. also I was under the impression that humans couldnt catch foot and mouth disease as we are not of the cloved hoof (at least most of us aren't) so I have to wonder (as a layman) why bother culling the herd that has it, why not eat them anyway? I too have read Fast Food Nation (in fact it is mycopy currently doing the rounds of other Beijing based FB posters) and to be honest I didnt immmediately go out and gte me some of Ronald's finest, but that could be because I was on a plane at the time and nothing gets rid of an appetite like explosive decompression. I ate at an IHOP today and that was good, I dont remember the book saying anything bad about that place. By the way I am off to Las Vegas to get royally watsed by myself tomorrow so If anyone has a lucky number for roulette then lt me know and I'll be happy to put a dollar on for you and If I strike big I'll send a cheque for a percentage. By the way please obey the words of the great Wesley Snipes when replying "always bet on black!" Cheers and Chollima out, by the way anyone know how to play Keno?
Chollima ho!!!!!!!!!!! |

You know what I think? (keep in mind its been bad computer day) I think that all of my programs and software have so many glitches on purpose so that some people can have a career in troubleshooting or so the phone company can make tons of bucks when I have to call long distance and wait for hours for some jackass to tell me that they've never seen this kind of problem before. Arggh!
