Okay on another thread we're debating whether its won't you please run over me, won't you please fawn over me. I personally think its run but what if it was roll?
Anyways I always think misheard lyrics are funny so please share.
Some friends of mine had trouble at first with COC's Knock it Down. We each thought it was one of the following, Dog eat Dog (which I thought was pretty cool) Lock and Load.
But the best was that skit on 4 on the floor (I think) where they couldn't figure out that song Blinded by the Light. One guy thought that it was something something by the foreman of the night. Then the other guy was like "Who the hell is the foreman of the night?" |

I'm-ah-confused. But here's one of mine anyway.
When I was young and the song was new, I thought "You Give Love A Bad Name" was "You Give Love A Band-Aid".
and of course
"Ride the tiger to the river Euphrates" |

COC = Corrosion of Conformity 4 on the Floor = hilarious skit comedy show
But what is it really Jason? I think its, Blinded by the Light, revved up like a deuce, another motor in the night. |

Misheard lyrics are called "mondegreens." (I think that's how you spell it.) San Francisco Chronicle columnist Jon Carroll occasionally does a column on them, usually good for a laugh. To check some out, go to sfgate.com, click columnists, Jon Carroll, mondegreens. Some of them are pretty funny. My favorite Frank Black one is, "I met man, he was a good man, selling insurance." |

I've read a few sites with Broken Face's lyrics as "Whatever I say is only spit" instead "where there were eyes there's only space" |

I misheard a "The Scene" lyric. I never looked at the lyrics til i started tabbing the song, and i thought the line:
"As you climb out of the top of some truck limousine."
was
"As you climb out of the top of some truckman's disease."

I would have sworn it was truckman's disease. You hear enough times, eventually it starts to makes sense. Sure, climbing out of the top of some truckman's disease, I can relate... Speaking of tabs for the Scene... how about posting a tab for the Scene? Please? Jackass? Sir? |

I'll admit that I don't know the words to Vamos (which was so quickly thrown out of Survivor) and I always sing "Want to hold that butterfly ya!" What is it really? |

Estaba pensando sobreviviendo con mi sister en New Jersey, Ella me dijo que es una vida buena alla, Bien rica bien chevere, Y voy! Puņeta! We'll keep well bred We'll stay well fed We'll have our sons They will be all well hung
They'll come and play Their friends will say Your daddy's rich Your mamma's a pretty thing
That maid Maria she's really OK
Vamos a jugar por la playa (x5)
I keep gettin' friends Looking like lesbians If we get bored We'll move to California
They'll come and play Their friends will say Your daddy's rich Your momma's a pretty thing
That maid Maria she's really OK
Vamos a jugar por la playa (x5)
Verse 1 (en englais) I was thinking surviving with my sister in New Jersey, She told me it's a good life there, Very good very nice, Here I Go! Jerk off!
Chorus (en englais) Let's go play by the beach |

Hmmmmmm, I'm a totally "make up my own lyrics" type guy and for the last ten years I thought it was "Your momma's a blasphemy" and that's what I'll probably go on hearing despite the other voices telling me otherwise!

I'm no Spanish guru, but isn't that conjugated wrong?
wouldn't it just be: "Estaba pensar..."

Honestly I don't know. I copy and pasted those straight out of Dag Wieers Pixies site. So I suppose he could be wrong. |

For years I always thought the chorus was: "Momma said oh that boys on fire" Until my wife pointed it out to me. How embarrassing. It just never occured to me the name of the song was used in the lyrics.

Yeah, well, when my friend Marie told me that, in Purple Haze, for a while she thought Hendrix was saying "'Scuse me while I kiss this guy". That part of the song is now perpetually ruined for me! Now every time I hear that fucking song I get this homoerotic Jimi imagery. MAKE IT STOP!!!!! |

Ok, this place has become a Spanish teaching class. The first translation is right. The translation of what you wrote is : Estaba pensando en vivir con mi sister en New Jersey

I don't know if any of you have heard the Bowie song 'Time' (from the album 'Aladdin Sane') but it has the line:
"I had so many dream, I made so many breakthroughs"...
I remember reading that one fan thought the line went:
"I had so many dreams, I ate so many grapefruits"
...which I think adds a whole new dimension to an already quirky song. |

In response the the "Levitate Me" lyrics, I think he says "Won't you please maneuver me." Not sure really, but it sounds the best to me.

Still sounds like "guy" to me....Anyway what about Nirvana's "Smells like..."?I think that is the most misheard song ever...The first time i heard it i got only yeah...Being the cd inlay without any lyrics at all i went singing stuff like:dum, dum, dum yeah, aiaiao, aiaiaio for months(until the single lithium came out with the lyrics) The Weird Al Yankovich parody is so true... What is this song all about can't figure any lyrics out...

um, when i got devils workshop i was about to go away somewhere so i just put the cd into my discman and so didnt know the names of the songs. i thought 'cry some tears for your water and pour whiskey in your shoes'was 'have some gin for your water and pour whiskey in my juice'.
if anyone says anything negative about anybody i admire, i'll kick 'em in the taco. and if all you see is violence, i'll make a plea, yeah, in my defence. |
