The interview is excellent, awesome, great, love it!
(aside from the fact that the stoopid interview didn't know Mr. Grieves and asked slightly inane questions - oh well) |

I like that he started playing Jane thinking it was something else and then realized it mid-intro. A very good interview overall. Also interesting that he lists All My Ghosts as one of the songs he keeps coming back to. I heard him say in another interview that he was really very fond of End of Miles from the new albums. Guess his tastes shift just like ours. |

I love the end; "I've got a song in my heart" - that cracked me up something fierce! |

I couldn't tell if she was joking about Mr. Grieves. Seems pretty incredible if she wasn't.
That was great. Thanks for posting it. |

She seemed pretty serious - and I guess there are SOME people who aren't as fanatical as us. I will give her a break, I suppose. Overall, it was a cool interview - he was so cheerful! |

well she's just a journalist of course she doesn't know all the songs she was very excited but then again, she's a journalist why wouldn't she be excited? she should, it's her job and her question were pretty good

Wow, Frank Black is obsessed with Elliot Smith's "Needle In the Hay"! I love that song! It's also interesting how he refers to meeting El Barto in an alley and giving him SSMVGD...hehe. Good stuff! |

This was like hi-ku.
Anyway, I agree, she was excited and that was cool. I ammend my intial critism of her. Like I said, she is obviously not as fanatic as the rest of us. And that's OK. |

great to hear frank chat it up for about half an hour. it's nice to hear that he really loves writing songs and putting out music. but i was a bit surprised to hear that he thought ssmvgd wasn't very good. i really like a lot of those tunes especially pan american highway. |

Yeah, one thing I've noticed about Frank is he really humbles himself quite a bit. So when he refers to SSMVGD as "some awful session", that's just Frank. Just like how he says he's a "hit or miss" songwriter. How many of his songs miss? 2 maybe? I dunno, but don't take it too seriously.
Also, I think the women's niceness stems from the fact that somebody must have majorly prepped her for Frank being a difficult interview (which we know he can be, remember that radio interview where he starts making fun of the interviewer by singing "rockin" Pixies songs like "la la love you"?) but it turned out he was charming and offbeat instead, so she was relieved and happy. |
