You're a lazy journalist and you've just been asked to review the new Frank Black album, don't bother listening to it, just follow these instructions:
Start off with a pun on his name to head the article "Black is Back" "Back in Black"
Make sure to use teh words "former" "frontman" "quirky" and "pixies" in the opening sentence. If you're really stressed for material, throw in the word "chubby" or "college-rock" or "Nirvana".
It's important at this point that you don't actually discuss the album he just released. You should throw in a random song title to give the impression you actually have the disc at your disposal, but feel no need to offer any insight that might lead to reader to believe you actually put it in your stereo.
Now for your concluding sentence make sure you have the words "pixies" "comeback" "wish" and "kim deal", and you're all set! You can go back to praising the latest flash in the pan.
(for the record, i might become a journalism major, so i don't hate journalists, just lazy ones) |

Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!! But also (unfortunately) very true -how many 'reviews' have you read like this?
One addition - some now claim to have some knowledge of the Frank Black back catalogue. Thus you could add 'he showed some signs of a return to form on Dog in the Sand...' or 'there is little of the musical invention demnonstrated on Teenager of the year...'
PS - after slating Frank for releasing too much material, praise Ryan Adams for releasing another 18 tracks, say how prolific he is etc |
