i know gambling is bad and all that, but is there anyone else here gets that warm fuzzy feeling when you hear slot machines??
i'm kind of jonzing lately since i'm on the East Coast and there's nothing around here. in LA, Vegas is 4 hours away.. and there are indian reservations even closer..
i wouldn't say i'm a "gambler" by any means, but i do enjoy a litttle black jack from time to time..

| What about Atlantic City? Isn't that like, one of the highest crime rates in the US? But you're in Baltimore now, right? That's like, one of the top crime rates too...along with your neighbor DC...and Detroit is up there too, I think. Then again, LA isn't too great. Where am I going with this? |

im only 18 so i cant technically gamble, but when we went to aruba noone cares so i did there, and its a lot of fun. i got like 60 at a video poker machine

yeah, my friend in DC and i are planning to check out Atlantic City one of these weekends.. i've heard it's not that great, but hey, if there are blackjack tables and alcohol, i'm there.
regarding crime: i've heard that Baltimore is number 2 behind DC.. so, i guess i'm in a pretty good area of the country :)
Baltimore is definitely a big change for me. . not that LA doesn't have it's bad areas, but here it's like .. a pretty widespread area of BAD. it's kind of depressing. the way i drive home from work, every night i'm praying that my car doesn't break down.
back to gambling though.. what's the most anyone's won gambling? |

The last time I gambled was on the ferry to Novia Scotia when I was 7. I think I won twelve bucks on the slot machines.

I love BJ, but the most I think I've ever won in a night is $70. That was one of the few nights I skipped the free booze. Somehow it's hard to keep a count of the cards when your downing 7 & 7's.
Yeah, know what you mean about loving the atmosphere (the sounds, the people, the little traditions, the yokels making incredibly stupid bets). I've never seen myself as a potential alcoholic or drug addict, but I can see getting sucked deep into gambling. It's a rush. Having said that, 2 days in Vegas is usually more than enough for me. That town has every imaginable sin on display with glutony and greed at the top. |

About two years ago I was gambling with some folks in Tucson. The first night a lost a lot of cash, like almost two hundred bucks. That is a lot money to me anyway. Regardless, the second night I won almost three hundred dollars, two watches, a fifth of Jack Daniel's and the "company" of a whore. Pretty cool, huh?

atlantic city is a dive, but its good for gambling apparently - my friend john goes down a lot and plays poker/blackjack for 8-12 hours at a time.

| I spent last New Years in Reno, NV. think of a mini-Vegas that is a lot trashier and that is pretty much Reno. I was in good company though, and there was some awesome fireworks on the main strip at midnight! Altogether it was a drunken time, and I actually won 20 or so bucks playing slots, so I was a happy man. |
