Must have been quite the blur indeed. He didn't play Calistan, Farewell Bend or Dog in the Sand. And for the record, the Saskatoon crowd was miles better than the Regina crowd. In fact, the Saskatoon show was better than the other shows I've seen, in Vancouver and Portland. Hooray for my city. Live songs that absolutely rule: I Want Rock n' Roll, Headacke, Jane, the Queen of Love, Nadine, Los Angeles, FREEDOM ROCK, Gouge Away and too many more to mention. By the way, the Pixies trivia is pretty weak. Name three Pixies albums? Oh, gee, I'll have to pass..... oh well, at least I won a T-shirt that's two sizes too small. I met a man.... |

Here's the show as I remember it:
Gouge Away Freedom Rock -> These two songs back to back bleeping rocked! Hermaphroditos Nimrod's Son California Bound House of the Pope Manitoba I Will Run After You How You Went So Far (? - did he play this) Whiskey In Your Shoes I Want Rock & Roll Jane The Queen of Love Crackity Jones Mr. Grieves Holiday Song Sir Rockaby Headache Robert Onion Where Is My Mind Chip Away Boy Los Angeles Bullet Cactus Cold Heart of Stone
Encore Six Sixty Six All My Ghosts Dirty Old Town Monkey Gone To Heaven
Plus, I think Dave's little rendition of La La Love You was worth mentioning... still got it.
Anyway, there were a few other songs in the encore, but those are the ones I remember being there at the moment. A pretty tasty little set, though I would have loves to hear Skeleton Man live again, or Calistan, or some 'new' live ones like End of Miles, I Love Your Brain, White Noise Maker, So. Bay, The Man Who Was Too Loud, ... <three days later> ... and Old Black Dawning. Yup, that's all of them. :)
What a rocking show it was, though. The only way it could have been better was to have Eric AND Rich, but I won't hold my breath. Frank said that Eric was joining them later on the tour though, so I don't know if that means they're losing Rich.
Which reminds me, this was my first time seeing Rich play with the band and he was in-fricking-credible. |

Freedom rock!! You guys were truly blessed!
Cult - I'm with you - If I heard Freedom Rock, Calistan, and So. Bay played within a half hour of each other by this band I might just pass out. I'll be going on the 22nd when the boys get back in town, there's often some surprises at the L.A. shows! |

It was fan-damn-tastic! You must be getting excited for Frank's return... I'm sure the hometown shows are amazing - especially if Joey pops in for an evening. I'm sure Frank and (at least some) of the Catholics are also happy to be back at the End of Miles as well, so that can't hurt things too much. So many songs that just sound indescribably better live: I now LOVE I Want Rock & Roll, and Jane/Hermaphroditos/Monkey Gone To Heaven live don't even compare with the album versions. Headache's pretty rocking too, live, and the crowd was really into it.
I'm sure you've probably seen Joey and some of the old Catholics live since you're from LA, but I'm curious if it's as good as I think it'd be or perhaps better. I'm going to guess the latter. At any rate, let's hear about some of these surprises. |

Dave sang a little 'La La Love You' there too, eh? He sang a bit of it in Calgary too. I'd imagine he gets requests for it anytime he talks to the audience about the Pixies. |

In Regina someone asked him to sing "Make Beleive". He said he couldn't remember the lyrics to it, and sang "La La Love You" instead. I would have liked to have heard Make Beleive instead, as I heard La La the night before in S'toon. I enjoyed Dave's set much more this time around. Last year it didn't seem as fun and entertaining, but the inclusion of the Pixies questions has spiced things up a bit. All I'm sayin', pretty baby..... |

True enough, I would have rather heard both, but you've got to admit he does a pretty spot on "La La Love You". Pretty sweet to hear, if only he'd sit on drums and then sing it. |
