Does anyone know if FB is to appear on the new Robert Smith solo record, which comes out next year as a double disc with the new Cure record? It's a reasonable guess, if you follow the Cure, and this solo project that's been festering for years - RS digs FB, they've appeared on the same Reeves Gabrels record, both dig him and Bowie, RS solo record made with 'guest artists' including, I think, Gabrels. It's all been pretty secrative, except there's only a limited pool of 'guest artists' possibilities.

It would be interesting...and to add to your six degrees to Frank Black; Robert Smith, David Bowie, Reeves Gabrels, Lou Reed, Sonic Youth, plus lots of others all appeared at Bowie's 50th Birthday Concert as guest musicians/singers. |

Right, I have to tell you about a dream I had this week-end. My wife & I were at some music festival where Frank was to play (turned out I woke up before he came on stage...), and before him we saw The Cure, but Robert Smith wasn't there, some unknown guy was replacing him, and worst of all, they were doing some Gipsy Kings covers! God did this gig suck. Am I the only one who always dreams about Frank in concert? I think not.

ive had atleast two frank concert dreams. one i woke up before he played, obviously, and in the second i fell asleep in the dream and missed the concert (somehow i slept through all the noise). i had another dream about this band Sloan i like where before the gig the band members were in the audience talking to people and i tried to talk to them and they kept ignoring me haha.

I'm a big Cure fan, but 1) Frank Black wouldn't appear on a Robert Smith album (ive heard them slag off the PIxies a few times before, and 2) The Cure won't release another album next year cos their lasy bastards who always delay their recording schedules |

but their web-site, as well as fan-sites, claim that 20-odd songs are written, even demo-ed, and they're in the studio next month or so, quickly mixing and prepping, avoiding major labels, and independently contracting the record out to a "lesser" distributor - to boot, the robert smith record is done as done. so.. that's what i'm basing my thoughts on. even the folks at the "chain of flowers" site are somewhat certain of this release. the only reason i'd be doubtful, aside from the cure ARE lazy bastards... is that next year they put out some kind of dvd 'anniversary' thing, and the b-sides collection.
in any case, if frank's not on it, i guess it'll be filled with reeves gabrels' classically-trained prog metal yelping?

The Cure have been talking about a b-sides album and anniversary tours for years but have never done anything about it... I would imagine another live album is on the cards, or a best of.... again!!!
I would love to see Frank with the Cure cos, although I call em lazy bastards they are a great band and maybe they could learn a thing or two about Franks workaholic tendencies. Maybe they could learn something musically from Frank as they are sounding too predictable nowadays... I do love them though... just think two geniuses together, Frank Black and Robert Smith... would be cool. |

there's tix for an 'anniversary' tour of sorts now: in Germany, they're playing "Pornography" "Disinitgration" and "Bloodflowers" albums live. Next year they've already booked an official anniversary gig with all the ex-Cure members, to be filmed for a dvd.
one day fb will perform FB, TOTY and COR live - for a super-8 release.
