Well, they had Ritchie Blackmore, and he used to be in Rainbow, so I guess... I didn't listen to Rainbow, I don't listen to Deep Purple, so I suppose I really can't comment intelligently on their alleged super-status. Which, obviously, did not prevent me from posting a reply anyway. I thought since you asked me directly, which made me feel like some sort of authority on super groups, I'd answer. Hey, Dave, how about making me the guy in charge of all Frank related super-group news and events, seeing as I've clearly proved my prowess in the field? I could be called "Superabounder"!

Fine. Don't. I don't need you. I've got Carolynanna, she thinks I'm pretty special. Super even. I mean, sure she's from E-Town, but her opinion still counts. Somewhat.

I'm kidding C-anna, you are the only one, ya that is what you are.

Well, I have been known to have that effect on women (I work at the make-up counter at the Bay), so next time you're in Saskatoon I'll REALLY make you blush... and clear up any oily patches in your T-zone.

Alright, I don't really work at the make-up counter at the Bay. You can safely fall in love with me again.

Damn and I was hoping you could help me with my T-zone.
Here's a thinker,
What about groups like Temple of the Dog that basically consisted of Pearl Jam and Sound Garden before they existed. Its like a pre-supergroup.

Hmm, we would have to develop a new title for these types of bands. Like Green River, from the very same scene back in the day (not that I dig scenes...). As the tree said to the lumber jack, I'm stumped. But fear not, I will brain storm until I come up with something, even If It Takes All Night.

Is the bassist for Tool really the bassist for QOTSA?

Why come I didn't know that...

No, he wasn't, I don't believe. Nick Oliveri did play bass in the Dwarves, but I've never heard of him playing in Tool. Unless Tool's bassist was one of the many people who worked on the latest album. That's possible, I suppose.

But Josh Homme wasn't the singer in Kyuss, he played guitar.

Josh Homme only played guitar in Kyuss (there was another singer who did only that.) and Nick Oliveri was never in Tool....he did indeed play bass in the Dwarves and he has a side project called Mondo Generator too.

the second guitarist in QotSA is the guy who played in Perfect Circle...not Homme or Oliveri

(Carolyn- haven't checked out El Rodeo yet, but I'm certainly going to asap) I actually picked up the very first QotSA album this weekend, and it kicks a great amount of ass.

OK, just a bad band with bad hair, but the violinist has an eye patch--does that count? Can someone be maimed or must it strictly involve amputation?

looks like this subject is a little ambiguous....last I checked, Dr. John and the Dead were not considered "hair bands"! Maybe it should just be "amputee-having bands"?

David L. seems like a very cool guy.. but i must admit that i usually take the opportunity to go to the bar and get a drink (or two) during his thing..

he actually opened up for a Pixies cover band in Los Angeles last year (called No. 13 Baby), which i thought was kind of sad.
