Alrighty folks, a very deep and tough question, indeed. Cats or dogs? Tigers or fennecs, cheetahs or dingos... ?
I like dogs.

I like cats. I have a cat with an extra finger on each front paw. They look like Mittens. Yes yes, her name is Mittens. How original. But at least she has mittens, unlike some poser cats.
Dogs are nice, but sometimes they just smell too much. I am also afraid of dogs without their owners. Like when I'm walking outside and this random big dog comes out of nowhere. I hate that. I think that has something to do with my child hood past or something.

i'd love to have a dog someday, but my apartment is too small, and i work too much.. it wouldn't be fair.
i just got a kitten a few months ago, Boo, and she's made me realize how much i like cats.. i think ultimately i'm more of a cat person..
i love dogs, but when i go to my sister's house and her two 100 lb golden retrievers jump all over me, i'm thankful that i have boo.. plus, dogs can't crawl into bed with you and snuggle up all cute like.
i guess they can, but then your bed is going to smell like dog, which isn't usually an aphrodisiac for the ladies..

dogs aren't stupid at all. most good studies show that they're much smarter than cats (domesticated dogs vs. domesticated cats is all the info. i've heard though), sorry. :p
also, cats with extra toes are hemingway cats. there are a bunch at his old house in key west.
anyway, barto, why do you prefer smaller dogs? i'd like to know because i'm the complete opposite on that stance. i've had both and small dogs are the meanest things on earth, usually.

a nice bonus with dogs is that they will eat their own vomit. |

the real question is if it were the end and you had to decide which animal you would rather have on your side ( for defense, food, company) would you want dogs or cats? personally id rather have an army of ferrets, but if i had to choose Id have to go with a loyal pack of mean boston terriers, ugly and cute at the same time, like a blemish.
wait, is that the real question? nevermind.

ferrets can definitely fuck shit up.. i agree though, i'd have to go with dogs vs. cats in that respect. i got bitten by a dobermin pincer (pincher that is) when i was about 8 years old.. not the most pleasant feeling..
forget terriers though, i'd have a pack of loyal pit bulls surrounding me.. i could probably manage to make my way through Iraq, on foot, dressed in an Uncle Sam styled tuxedo and oversized top hat (red white and blue of course) if i had a few loyal pit bulls with me.
so samuel, what's afghanistan like this time of year?

We caught him tearing up a pair, so his 'punishment' was to have embarassing photos taken of him. |

oh, how cute.. is he a jack russel's?
i rather have my dog with me at a moment of need, but my dog isn't very loyal. he's a 6-year-old dalmatian and he pretty much does what he wants, although, he will do tricks for food or if he's just in a good mood (or he knows he's in trouble).
by the way, i like the "my cat hates you" website. cats are funny. i remember i used to have black cats always follow me when i was younger, and i didn't know if it was because they liked me or wanted to kill me.
My fortune cookie would say "It is now your time to ROCK." What would yours say? |

Cats. I like dogs too, but I prefer an animal that can take care of itself and stays clean, and can fit in my tiny apt. My cat is back in New Orleans, and her name is Pepina. If I had a ranch, however, then I would have at least one dog, probably a Catahula Cowhound, with one blue and one black eye.
Like David Bowie. Only my dog wouldn't have gotten it in a childhood fight over a girl. Or so I hear.

I gotta vote for ferrets! They're litter trained, yet they can't jump up on things, make noise, or claw your furniture. Mine never bite either because I brought them up right.
I must say I hate dogs. I used to have bad dreams where I would put my girlfriend's parent's dogs in a freezer and cut them in half. Must of been that dog that jumped the fence and chased me when I was 2.

nimrod--oooh.. what a cute pup! i love dalmatians. i'm waiting to look into other breeds though, namely pharoah hounds and border collies (ok, ok, and many others--i love dogs) and even fennecs and foxes. there's just something about little, warm, fat puppies, no?
anyway, i like fishies, too, astroman. they're always moving and they come in all kinds of shapes and colors. i don't have any now (i have tree frogs though), but i adore them. mostly because they remind me of the ocean though.
