First off, I'm a big fan of this song, but does anyone else think that the first minute completely blows away the last two minutes? I get the feeling I might be in the minority here, but I absolutely love the first minute of that song, "speed leaving without warning" ext. Then when the song explodes with all the guitars, the song doesn't get ruined, it still is a good melody, but it loses its hold on me. |

It was my fave song on my school tour of Eastren Europe along with L7's, "Bricks are Heavy" album, I think I only liked that because of "Brick is Red". Ahhhh, the memories!

I love this song...it's beautiful, very powerful. I used to play it with my old band, and fuck if I could sing the "I will fall" parts...VERY DIFFICULT and my voice cracked almost every time. I have recorded proof of it, but I am afraid of ever posting them. |

oooh post them!!!! hahah. I like this song very much, some of you have knocked Navajo Know, but that is just a cool song as well. Birdream though, awesome song. I saw the Pixies on tv play it on the Dennis Miller show, oh so long ago. But how about this, list a song that you can do without off of each record. here is my list. COP: None SR: Im Amazed DL: LaLa Fuck You(I cant deal w the new wave voice) BN: Down to the Well TLM: Space I Believe (too long)

PILGRIM - I've Been Tired...(I love the song, but I have to pick one that would be it)
SURFER - Tony's Theme (if this song never existed, i would not be phased in the least)
DOO - La La Love You (alright song, but the weakest on the album i think)
BOSSA - Stormy weather (nothing too special...i would miss it the least out of all the songs on Bossanova)
TLM - UMass (i was never too impressed w/ it...) p.s. those who said "Space" should go are insane; sure it's a tad long but the intro part to it is f&ckin ROCKIN...gets me going every time |

It's a totally great song, but there are two things that bug me about the performance: the slightly flawed singing on the loud chorus, and the over-simplified, groove-oblivious drumming. |

COP - none SR - none D - none B - none TLM - none
Obviously some tracks I like more than others, but I would not remove any from the albums. Even the worst Pixies tracks would be considered masterpieces if written by other bands.

I assume that in reality eveyone would subscribe to that train of thought, it wasn't really the point of the question though. |

I love the entire song - the first minute or so is gripping, like you say. I especially love the sound of the wind whipping in the background. |

I agree Bird Dream does lose it a little, but its still a great song, it ends too soon in my opinion. Not wanting to knock Frank at all, as he's without a shadow of a doubt my favourite artist, but a few of his songs are like this.... Pure Denizen, and Jet Black River to name a couple. Saying that, maybe if the catchy parts of songs were extended then it could possibly make the song predictable and boring..... who knows, and who am I to criticise when I can't play or sing shiiiiiiit.
My best ones:
COP: Ive been Tired SR:River Euphrates D:Gouge Away B:The Happening TLM:Letter to Memphis Thats too difficult

How come every thread on this forum eventually turns into a list of favorite songs? Well, except the ones about Frank and Kim hating each other.
Oh, well. My personal favorites? Keep in mind that these are always subject to change.
COP: Levitate Me SR: Where Is My Mind? D: Monkey Gone To Heaven B: Velouria TLM: Motorway To Roswell
And my least favorites:
COP: Isla De Encanta SR: Something Against You D: Silver B: Blown Away, I guess TLM: Not sure I really have a least favorite. I think Planet Of Sound might be a bit overrated, but I don't know that I'd call it the worst song on the album. If pressed, I guess I might have to say Distance Equals Rate Times Time, and even that's pretty cool.
