Anyone here into baseball? Being in the UK baseball coverage is minimal so I'd be interested to hear any comments/opinions on the offseason, predictions for the new season, or anything really! Any other Mets fans here? |

Not into baseball, as I'm from the UK, where most people do not really have an interest in many US sports. However I went to see the Oakland A's twice when I was living in Oakland for 3 weeks. Pretty cool game to watch live but not such a good game to watch on t.v. in my opinion. Would love to play it though!

I'm a bit of an all night watcher on channel 5 when its on. I enjoy attempting playing it with my mates as well. Not a team to watch live for a few hundred miles though! |

I got into it when I was about 14.... but I only ever really played softball at school, which is a similar game. I reckon Baseball is like cricket... it would be cool to actually be there getting slaughtered whilst watching the crowd, but sitting in front of the t.v. for a whole day gets a little mindnumbing.

To me its cricket minus the five day game scenario. Plus more dynamic commentators than Richie Benaud. Wish I had a channel like ESPN to watch it all the time. The eternal armchair sportsman. |

I wish I had ESPN so that I could watch the footy and rugby in English... Ive found a bar to watch tonights match against France in the Six Nations, which is great.... but I'm gonna definately miss the quality of Sky Sports commentary.
I get alot of sport here, but it not in English so Ive go no idea of what they are saying.... anyway, back to baseball... blood hell mate, it must be pretty back in Plymouth right now

Into baseball? Very much. I'd give up hearing any music for 2 years (3 years maybe) for the Red Sox World Series win.
Predictions. The Phillies had the best off-season. Signing Thome and absolutely stealing Millwood from the Braves. The Braves will start to decline.
I don't think the Mets helped thenselves a whole lot. They got Glavine, but lost Alfonzo.
World Series prediction: how about Phillies vs. Red Sox with Red Sox winning in 5 games. |

Steve,
early morning blues mate, I missed out the word 'late' meaning that it must have been the early hours of the morning back home. Plymouth's alright... my brother goes to Uni there, and Ive been on the piss down there a few times.... especially the Barbican. In fact, everytime Ive got pissed in Plymouth it has resulted in myself blowing chunks!

It's sure to be another season of Met disappointment. I hope the Braves fail miserably without their old rotation.
Stuart- Yeah the Barbican is a good laugh. Its got a high enough pub density for a decent crawl. Is your brother a frank black fan? Does he play drums by any chance?
darwin- i have a lot of sympathy for Red Sox fans. I'd rather boston got to the world series than any other AL team, esp the Yankees |

St. Louis Cardinal fan here. Don't know where their heads will be this year given all they went through in the last. Through all the heavy emotions they made a great run till they met the Giants, where they seemed drained, and badly missing Scott Rolen. Must say I am looking forward to the season. This time of year I have only golf on Sunday afternoons, plus a little auto racing. |

The Cardinals should be pretty good. Rolen, Pujous (sp?), and Drew are a good core. I can't remember if they added any pitching this winter. Houston (with Kent) and Chicago should be pretty good. Even Cincinnati could be good if Griffey comes back and their young guys (Dunn and Kearns) keep getting better. |

Steve, my brother probably doesn't even know who Frank Black is... his music taste consists of Aerosmith - Post Get a Grip, Backstreet Boys and a bag of other shite like that. He doesn't play the drums either. He actually goes to Marjohns, not the actual Uni. If you happen to see him, give him a fucking big nipple wrench from me will you!

I got way too into last season, with my Giants making it to the end of the tunnel, then dropping the flashlight. Have been a big fan since the mid-eighties. Baseball is fantastico.

i just do the wussy "heavy hitters" on sandbox.net; its all based on offensive numbers, with a salary cap; its simple und fun; my first pickup is almost always manny ramirez; then i hunt for guys coming off injury who can be had for cheap; last year that were AroD

I'm an Orioles fan since age 5. Not much good has happened since '83. One of our pitching prospects died of heat stroke last week-- it looks like another long season. My other favorite team is whoever is playing the Yankees. |

So, do we a have a consensus that the Yankees suck and in a perfect world they would lose every game?
Manny Ramirez is a beast and so is Bonds. |
