I went to the show last night.
It was in San Francisco at the Cellar at John Foley's.
The show was opened by a remarkably boring folk singer. Greg something.
Frank played solo, he said that "Ricky Feldman" and "Little Davvy Philips" were both busy and couldn't make it.
Seeing Frank solo is very interesting because he talks to the crowd a lot and tells stories.
Frank seemed very hindered by not having any bandmates with him. He had trouble playing some parts of songs, most notably the intro to Abstract Plain, and he cut many parts of songs that didn't have vocals.
It was my 7th Frank Black show, and while not the best one I have seen it was still very good. I'll try to list the songs he played by era:
Pixies: crackity jones, mr grieves, where is my mind?, cactus, holiday song, nimrod's son, wave of mutilation, monkey gone to heaven
Frank Black: Brackish Boy
Teenager of the Year: Abstract Plain
Frank Black & the Catholics: All my Ghosts
Dog in the Sand: I'll Be Blue, Bullet
Black Letter Days/Devil's Workshop: Bartholomew, 21 Reasons, Valentine and Garuda, How you Went so Far, the Black Rider, End of Miles, Black Letter Day, Southbound Bevy, Whiskey in your Shoes, Cold Heart of Stone
NEW new songs: Horrible Day, Nadine (?), Manitoba (?)
