Today's random song of the day is San Antonio, TX.
What do you think of it?
lyrics
Motel alone d馗or perplexes Ringing in my ear and now the phone In San Antone the State of Texas Hearing you my dear I知 all alone
Put me in the cab I知 flying away I知 glad to say I知 finally leaving here Putting down the flags I知 getting off Just two more stops the skies are very clear I知 sitting in the back I知 flying away I知 flying away I知 flying away
She had a dream call it a vision He壇 given her a little silver tool And now it seems that day has risen I知 bringing you your supernatural jewel
Put me in the cab I知 flying away I知 glad to say I知 finally leaving here Putting down the flags I知 getting off Just two more stops the skies are very clear I知 sitting in the back I知 flying away I知 flying away I知 flying away
The Alamo I致e never seen it Maybe I値l go there but I don稚 know And if I go well I won稚 see it Thousand mile star will take home
Put me in the cab I知 flying away I知 glad to say I知 finally leaving here Putting down the flags I知 getting off Just two more stops the skies are very clear I知 sitting in the back I知 flying away I知 flying away I知 flying away |

most excellent tune, guitar and vocals are superb. great melody with vocals that sound like Frank is longing to be somewhere else fast. Really rocking song.
p.s bring on December 1st, and big european farewell to the saviours of sound.
I WANT R+R. and i'll get it on 1st. |

Great tune, though I would argue that there are better on DW: His Kingly Cave, Whiskey in Your Shoes, Field of Marigold, Bartholomew, Heloise, The Scene.
I love singing the verse as much as the chorus in this one...
The Alamo I've Never Seen It Maybe I'll go there but I don't know
Put me in a cab I'm flyin' awaay I'm glad to say I'm finally leavin' here ... I'm flyin' away, I'm flyin' away, I'm flyin away
The organ's pretty cool in this song, though I never considered before, if there's an organ AND a piano... well, who's doing what?
This song was about a call to his ex-wife's side when she was taken ill and leaving San Antonio in a rush home.

It's a bloody shame he doesn't play it live very often
I love the song. I think it's the best of DW

I'd consider "Whiskey" to be as good as San Antonio, but not the rest of them (especially "The Scene", which is definitely one of my least fave FB songs). |

i heard somewhere that it's about his wife getting sick while he was on tour, and having to rush back home to be with her.. (i think he cancelled some dates too)..
but i can't confirm that that's what it's about. |

as far as 'as good as' etc. forget it. this is one of quite a few jewels on that disc and i would say they are all guitar rock bliss of the highest order -this disc has some of the sweeter guitar sounds ever created on it.
i didn't join a cult / Hale Bopp had the market cornered -I GUESS YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT SKY.. when the clouds have turned to isles... |

this is my favorite one off of DW for sure. The chorus sounds like Tom Petty .. |

Well, to be fair, the later ones in that list are probably 'as good as' and not better, but I love The Scene as much as San Antonio.

Sometime in the summer of 2000, I was on my way to see Frank and the Catholics in Dallas, TX only to find the show cancelled. The situation with his wife either happened that day or the night before.
Good song.
The old headphones I use at work sometimes cut out one channel of stereo sound and I have to tap the cord to get it right. One time it cut out when I put on this song and all I could hear was the organ (played by Eric Drew Feldman?). I stopped and listened to the whole track that way. I didn't realize how pretty and circus-y the organ part was before. It was pretty cool. |

Incredible song and one of my favorite songs ever. The chorus sends chills down my spine every time I hear it. Its only rival on the album in my opinion is Heloise which is also incredible.
Thanks Dean for the explanation, I've always wondered what it's about

Brilliant song. Guitars by Moris Tepper and Dave Philips, as confirmed by Puppaduck elsewhere. I was listening to Beefheart's Shiny Beast LP, and one track ("Owed T'Alex"?) reminded me of it slightly. This might be because both Moris Tepper and Eric Feldman play on that album.

Yeah I like this diddy too. BUT has anyone noticed that it basically sounds like a slightly unhinged and frenetic reworking of Llano del Rio? Anyone agree?
