Posted - 02/12/2004 : 09:16:34 I've gotten tired of looking around the various threads for information on this particular show. In efforts to streamline the process, post any new info, stories of incessently harassing the girl at Walker's box-office or ride/flight/meet-up information. Cheers mates. See you in Canada.
Posted - 05/05/2009 : 00:17:44 i just watched it as well. first guy maddin flick i've since. it was pretty funny in a strange/bizarre way. i knew it got some good reviews but didn't realize how much. it made a few critics top 10 lists for best films of 2008..time, globe and mail..
i particularly liked when they were talking about the urinal troughs in the winnipeg arena.
i recently saw emily haines perform in town and she was talking about guy maddin and the "saddest music in the world". i want to check that one out next.

Hey, Hhands or others from the area: is there a Guy Maddin's Guide to Winnipeg? ([url]
I just finished watching My Winnipeg for the first time.
It's unreal and uncanny.

Just kidding. Northern Minnesota's pretty much the exact same.

Posted - 03/18/2005 : 10:10:51 I am so sick of the snow here. I'm just glad I'm heading to California next week for the U2 concerts in San Diego :) I bet there's no snow there.

Posted - 03/17/2005 : 19:02:10 Yeah, I hear you on that. Here we were enjoying spring for a week and now 10 cm snow drifts and other good stuff.
Ahh, this is the price we pay to keep our country from becoming suburbia.

Posted - 03/17/2005 : 18:03:34 It looks like we'll be a little less dusty and sandy this April....I don't think the *ucking snow is going anywhere.
Posted - 03/17/2005 : 17:11:40 Yeah, 'twere a good time. All us winter cities get that way, there's no help for it unfortunately.

Posted - 03/17/2005 : 16:54:02 Winnipeg was the proverbial bomb last April.
Yeah, I remember that the city was really sandy and dusty from the melted snow, revealing all the sand that the city had put down for traction.

Posted - 03/17/2005 : 09:44:25 I liked your page Porkbone. Ah, the memories. Winnipeg is starting to look like a shithole again thanks to seasonal change. This time sans Pixies so a little more shitty it is.
I like Kasabian. I can't help it. I like the Arcade Fire.
Posted - 05/31/2004 : 03:34:46 Sorry to hear that man, maybe next time.

Posted - 05/30/2004 : 10:23:12 So I'm partially recovered from the gig. From what I remember it was awesome! Choboter, if you were there then I missed you. Saw a couple of folks with Pixies shirts on. Jim was fairly apologetic to me about not returning my calls because they were kinda' busy. The one story they told me that kicks ass in a wierd kind of way happened back stage. Apparently when the other guitarist from HAM whose name is Paul turned around rather quickly he struck/stunned Kim in the face with the tuning end of his guitar. I wasn't there but I have a movie of this running through my head. Go see 'em in Alberta. Sure to please.

Posted - 05/28/2004 : 19:49:10 Yeah, those are Jims' initials. He's the heftier of the guitarists. Gonna' kick his ass tomorrow at the show for never returning my calls. I hope I can go online from the hospital.

Posted - 05/21/2004 : 17:07:47 Well, I'm going to see HAM on the 29th and I'll be sure to post the details that I get from the band surrounding the show at the BTC. They are slowly coming along with their website at http://www.hamtheband.com/index.html and there are some tracks for download as well. Anyone that's interested can stay with me in Winnipeg during the peak of the mosquito season. The idea is to get totally loaded and then pass out in a park. When we come to, the one with the most bites wins. Any takers?

Matt, I remember the same diatribe on the trip down south. Admit it dude, we have the most geometrically aligned electrical posts in all of Canada and the world. Admit that you work for "the man" for the best interests of TO to propogate the myth that TO was in complete control of the situation. Blame it on local government prescence based on previous years of accumulated snow fall. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to get on your bad side and could you swing me tickets for Cats?
We can't let this thread die.
I have to admit one of the wonders of Winnipeg besides "the army base", "the mall", "the snow pile" and "the road" is the civil servants of Winnpeg's dedication to perfect alignment of electrical poles. It's the eighth wonder of the world if you ask me. I admit to nothing else though.
