They just posted up a pic of them in a warehouse somewhere which looks like could be a recording or more likely a recording for a video for a new song ?

Got to see them do Last Splash in SF the other unit. Really fun stuff. They have a few extra musicians with them to recreate some of the more off stuff from the record. Kim looks better than she has in awhile. Positive vibe throughout, and Gigantic plus Pod and All Nerve songs in the encore.

Breeders just released a new version of Divine Hammer called Divide Mascis with J Mascis singing the leads - I like it ! it sounds like a cross between the original song and a slight hangover

Correction: it's actually a previously unreleased track recorded 30 years ago being released for the Last Splash reissue

Notes:
These unreleased demos have never before been posted online or circulated at all amongst fans.
The demos are sourced from 2 sessions, both recorded at Cro-Magnon Studios in Dayton, Ohio. The first 8 tracks are from September 1992. This was apparently a very preliminary recording session, just to sketch out the songs, with most of the tracks being instrumental.
The second batch (tracks 9-17) is from November 1992. The songs are a bit more together and include vocals for the most part. Still, there are some very noticeable differences to the finished album versions in songs such as "Divine Hammer" and "Saints". Perhaps the highlight of the tape is a completely unreleased song called "Go Man Go", previously known only to fans by one low-quality live recording. The vocals are very high in the mix for this 2nd set.

Original cassette provided by andycherry. Transferred and uploaded by defgav.
defgav made these available on his blog http://defgav.com, and I simply thought they deserved wider circulation, so here it is. All praise to andycherry and defgav for these. The first set, in particular is amazing!

Enjoy,

Ah that's annoying. Well it's still downloadable online if you can find a certain blog post regarding the 'Last Splash' demos.

There's some (at least 3) YouTube videos online of it being played live in Nov of 1992, the same month it was demoed, too.

thanks a lot!

maybe some of the involved parties only recently became comfortable with the idea of it (releasing a Black Francis co-written song, essentially).
Or perhaps they didn't have this recording ready, as it seems this time with the reissue they've gone back to the original master tapes and perhaps it was on there?
Don't see a mention of them doing that with the 20th anniversary reissue.

It's produced by Mark Freegard during the Last Splash Sessions I believe.(and to be honest, almost everything The Breeders do sound the same)

How on earth didn't this one make it to LLSX? The 20th anniversary deluxe release?

Would they have needed BF’s permission to release this?

Earlier this year on the 'Pixies and Frank Black Francis' Facebook group someone uploaded a photograph of magazine article from 1990 in which Kim Deal describes an unreleased Bossanova-era Pixies song with music by Black Francis and lyrics by Kim:

Now the song doesn't open with the aforementioned "I deeply enjoyed my life as a beauty" but the lyrics seems to have very strong parallels to the description given by Kim in which a beauty queen who is leading a parade desperately attempts to keep her crown by blowing everyone up. Have a read of the lyrics below and see what you think. It even includes a line which almost perfectly matches Kim's quote "the [only] way out is up".

At parade rest
The fathers
Will be driving home
And I’ll be leaving here too

March on soldiers
I’m your Queen
The ambassadress
Of beauty I’m told

When I say go man go
Goodbye babe
Go man go man go
Goodbye baby

Orchids and roses
I hold in my hand
And throw o’er the waving crowd
And they say go man go

Soon there will be tiny pieces of me
The way out is up really loud
When I say go man go
Goodbye babe
Go man go man go
Goodbye baby

That was great

My ears can’t detect the drumming differences I like it all enough

Agree 100%. Wish BF and co would lean towards this kind of production style. Think they produced themselves on All Nerve with Albini and a few other engineering and mixing.

Also, Jim’s drumming itself it’s simply more interesting than Dave’s recent stuff.

Cool song, sounds great. And I’ve got my tickets for their SF show.
Really wish they could’ve written more songs together. What could’ve been.

Sounds awesome! A little disappointed it's not something new-new but fingers crossed they have something in the works.

All Nerve was their best album since their best album Pod in my opinion,

I also like the solo Kim recordings
auxfnx Posted - 06/25/2023 : 17:44:43
I am intensely interested in new The Breeders music. Mountain Battles and All Nerve might be my favourite records by them. All Nerve particularly feels like everything that's amazing about them summed up in one.
I just don't want to get my hopes up for new music yet since I know they can really take their time working on it, and it hasn't been quite 10 years since the last one yet :P

Maybe The Breeders will be the support for the Bossa Trompe tour ?

Why not ?

That would be kewl
Troubles A Foot Posted - 06/25/2023 : 10:45:11
I like the Breeders, I am interested. I am not intimately familiar with their material like I am with Frank, but I've listened to Breeders albums on many long drives and really enjoy them. I could not tell you more than one or two song titles though.

Nobody is interested in new Breeders music ?
Bedbug Posted - 06/24/2023 : 18:52:28
I'm not not interested, but am I that interested?
