Not entirely sure what it means, but the band's official Facebook and twitter pages have been posting artwork from Bossanova today.... no captions included....
2020 is the 30th Anniversary... can we expect a reissue? Remixed/Remastered album? Demos/B-sides/outtakes? New packaging/artwork? And possibly a tour if this pandemic stuff ever works itself out?
Whatever it is, they've started teasing it, and I'm excited.

Not a musician of any kind myself but found this by the guy that wrote Cecilia Ann and some info on what he did to get that noise. No idea of Joey did the same but hope someone finds it interesting!
Edit: According to the below the loud roar sound at the beginning is a sample from the original version so not really sure Joey did anything to get that noise.
Steve Hoffman quote - 'They sampled me kicking the Fender Twin amp at the start which amused me'

Which still doesn't explain what Joey actually did but makes more sense than the first article. I've always assumed it was an accident caught on tape and used.

It sucks because I make music and experiment with sounds all the time and I'd love to understand what he did. But the article is so badly written. He dropped a thing somewhere? What?
||Posted - 09/18/2020 : 05:35:36
Iím the least musician-y musician on the forum, so how am I supposed to understand what he did? But at least it helped me understand that he did something.

Made a noise.
It's a puff piece for the pedal manufacturer, isn't it? :/

It's really vaguely written. What exactly did Joey do there?

I did not know this about Bossanova

Bossanova album review

Pretty sure I've read somewhere there was a few unused instrumentals from the Bossanova sessions. Shame they weren't included if true.
Anyway, for a bit of fun here's my ranking of the Bossanova tracks. It's a little front heavy but what a record eh?
1. Dig For Fire
2. Rock Music
4. The Happening
5. Is She Weird
6. Cecilia Ann [The Surftones cover]
7. All Over the World
11. Down to the Well
13. Blown Away
14. Stormy Weather
Oh and the b-sides too. Not much between them:
1. The Thing [The Happening remix]
2. Make Believe
3. I've Been Waiting For You [Neil Young cover]
4. Winterlong [Neil Young cover]
5. Santo [Doolittle era demo]
6. Velvety (Instrumental Version)

Bossanova a 40 year old gem

Personally, I am underwhelmed....

Why don't they start bringing out micro vinyl? CD sized vinyl albums that play on miniature record players, with triple fold out gatefold sleeves. I'm sure it must be possible to compress full size albums down to 5" both sides? Maybe not the same sound quality but still, highly collectibles items I think. Get it did somebody.

How many of these do you expect they will sell?

The only album I've ever bought three times. Cassette: flatmate spilled beer on it. CD. Then vinyl. Now I gotta buy it a god damn fourth time? Bossano way mate, I don't get paid again til the end of the week

No Bossanova for Old Forum Members

Disappointing. I'll be expecting a virtual reality/holographic reconstruction of the entire 1991 tour next year for the TLM 30th anniversary at least, plus bonus tickets and a bag of weed to smoke. Anything less than that is just taking the piss.

maybe it's just not worth it (financially) to give bossanova the full deluxe edition treatment today?
||Posted - 06/18/2020 : 06:54:23
Official announcement on 4AD.... have to say Iím bummed at how bare bones it is... not a remaster, no bonus material, just red vinyl and a reprint of the 16 page booklet from the original UK release.

I'm very happy about this.
PUERTO RICO PIXIE
||Posted - 06/17/2020 : 07:40:51
Would absolutely love something like what they did with Doolittle 25. The B-sides/Peel Sessions, and in particular all the demos along side a remastered album would be amazing.
And if Bossanova is getting this treatment, then itís pretty definiteTrompe will be too in the future. Now that is something that screams ďrelease the demos/outtakes!Ē Might finally hear full versions of Pixies playing Brackish Boy, Hang On To Your Ego, Surf Epic, etc.

Shows. We deserve nice things.
Some kind of period live release and remaster would be good too.
