The first show of the Come On Pilgrim... It's Surfer Rosa tour just finished.... I wasn't there sadly, but here's the setlist from setlist.org

Caribou
Vamos
Isla de Encanta
Ed Is Dead
The Holiday Song
Nimrod's Son
I've Been Tired
Levitate Me
In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song
Bone Machine
Break My Body
Something Against You
Broken Face
Gigantic
River Euphrates
Where Is My Mind?
Cactus
Tony's Theme
Oh My Golly!
Vamos
I'm Amazed
Brick Is Red

Encore:
Build High
Down to the Well
Rock a My Soul
Um Chagga Lagga
Into the White
Planet of Sound

First off, ROCK A MY SOUL! DOWN TO THE WELL! BUILD HIGH! Very cool. Hoping video of those show up soon.

Saw video on the facebook fan page of Charles reading the "You Fuckin' Die" bit off a piece of paper... no idea if the "field hockey players" bit was included or not... would be weird if anyone besides Kim were to read that...

Also... this has to be the first Pixies gig since 1988 where no Doolittle songs were played.... that's pretty incredible...

From the pics/video clips i've seen on Facebook/Instagram, the visuals looked awesome. Must've been an amazing show all in all. Can't wait for Brooklyn.

Who was there? WE NEED YOUR REVIEWS!

You’re the first one I’ve heard mention DTMR as one of the B-sides played. Love that song. Hope a video of it surfaces.

Very interesting (or very boring) that they subbed Paz for Kim.

Again, terrific review Sprite. If anything else comes to mind please share.

Thanks! Feeling a lot better now, then again I am sitting at home drinking tea and watching Pixies video clips so I should be!

Manta Ray is on Facebook (posted in the Pixies and Frank Black group I think). Sounds great as usual.

(5 dusted off songs in fact. I also forgot oh my Golly!)

Yes twice! And the first version was much shorter. For the second Joey took centre stage, (Frank actually sat down) and he did his thing plugging the guitar lead out and messing with it.

Thanks for the review, Sprite !

I almost forgot I’m Amazed was included. That’s 4 long lost songs in total. In one gig !

Did they really played Vamos twice ?

Here is my review from last night

- Have to start by saying even at 5pm I wasn’t up for it at all. Stressful day at work, lumbered with a grotty cold and what I really want is a new Pixies record not an old album tour. But a bite and couple of G&Ts and it was game on.
- The first strange thing was that there were no ticket touts outside the tube stop or near the venue. I have never seen that in my life. And I had to show photo ID along with the ticket. Seems the measures to try to stop the touts worked quite well
- The roundhouse is well, round. There was one big screen behind them and then five smaller screens on the side. When we arrived the documentary was on about the album cover art but I have to say that the audio was not that engaging so I went to the bar.
- Never having been to the venue before I had no idea what to expect sound wise…The sound was immense. There was no separation of the instruments that I have heard before (esp say during Indie Cindy, Silver Snail). It was just a wall of guitar noise. Whoever set up the amps or mixing desk did a great job.
- They did the Surfer Rosa chatter both prior to Vamos and I’m Amazed. Frank had to read it off a sheet which is quite funny really. And he said ‘No I talking to Paz’ which got a few boos… Frank was actually slightly chatty, he gave warning midway about taking it easy because somebody broke their foot the previous night
- Paz nailed Gigantic. It was so great to hear it again
- WIMM felt a bit out of place. There was a big gap between then end of Euphrates and start of Cactus as they had to swap over the guitars
- The band were up for it big style. Joey dressed like he walked of the set of Scarface. The songs were really tight, I did not hear any mistakes, even the songs they don’t usually play (Tony’s Theme, I’m Amazed, Oh my Golly) sounded great.
- They did the B-sides in between two albums. I think it started with Heaven then Rock A My Soul, Build High, Down To The Well and Dancing the Manta Ray (not sure exact order is right). Build High surprisingly good, Down To The Well was fantastic.
- Highlight of the night was River Euphrates. Even though I’ve known this for 30 years I have to say what a FU**ING TUNE!
- There was some moaning about lack of atmosphere at the gig in a review but I thought it was pretty good. The bright screens meant it was quite lit overall. Plenty of people getting into the groove.
- There was no real encore, just after the applause Dave was teasing one more with his fingers so they stepped back and knocked out Tame. Then that was that, we were outside the venue around 10:30 so we went back to the pub
- My incoming scepticism is now totally dissolved. I’d still rather they’d go off and sort out a new album but if you are mulling over whether to see this show I’d say do it!! It was total blast and more fun than the Dolittle show. And who knows maybe revisiting all these early songs with such attention to detail might fire them right up to make another speedy record and drop it masterpiece

You can do it stuczuba! We believe in you

I'm going tonight, I'll endeavour to record something for the new old songs.

Don't get your hopes up - expect some grainy film of Paz with the sound all blown out..

Was the instant.com review translated from another language or something?? Because I have a new favorite Pixies song, and it’s The Vacation Tune.

-----------------------
Q: Where do Pixies keep their instruments when they're not playing?
A: Debasement.

I like seeing the old style logo on the drum kit.

Conversely, this carbon copy approach resulted in a dearth of spontaneity and — coupled with the total absence of audience interaction — meant the atmosphere for what should have been a celebration often felt flat. Hopefully, they can put this right for their remaining nights."

Jeez!

Anyone with a psychology degree want to analyze what this means?

Of course none of us are surprised by this report at all.

Hope you can enjoy the night Sprite!

Wear your Head Carrier shirt. No one will revoke your fan card because of it.
Sprite Posted - 10/30/2018 : 23:03:27
Also a question: Would it be trolling to wear a Head Carrier T-shirt to this gig? (I also have a nice Ed is Dead one)
