Do you drop something FB related into your every day conversations?

Any time someone says "Do what you want," I'm sure you all know what word I respond with. Or if I'm set up to respond with "Do what you want" I'll add it at the end.

And the person usually looks at me funny and says "Huh?"

I know I have a bunch more but that's the first one that comes to mind.

Curious if anyone else has the same phenomenon.

At the museum I met a curator.

That one came in handy this week

Q: Where do Pixies keep their instruments when they're not playing?
A: Debasement.

Ooh, haven't seen that one Jeepster, but I still want a full version of Brownie mountain (the song and the dessert)!

"If we hit this bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate."

There’s a Tim and Eric sketch where their characters interview Frank, apparently without knowing who he is. He halfheartedly sings a few bars of Gouge Away before giving up in apparent despair. My friend and I quote that video constantly.

Can't believe I haven't mentioned this before, but just today when talking to somebody I said "Don't get me wrong.." and you can pretty much guess where it went from there.

“I’m FROM this town!”

I use that one a lot. Especially with all these annoying tourists and transplants.

When grocery shopping in the dessert section I'll sometimes sing (in my mind) 'custard all the way'

Similarly, I do the same to 'I need peas'

I got peas turned up so loud.

When the person on the subway next to me has fleas or smells, I might start singing to myself "I Gotta Move."

Or if the kids start acting up, I'll say "talking back is a bad offense."

I do this one

and from now I won't be able to resist singing "I'm washing my back!"

I bet there are 15 others I do but none are coming to mind
Bedbug Posted - 07/02/2018 : 01:21:31
I think I’ve screeched “I’m learning!!” at someone before.

Not a song but I once read an interview with the band Cud years ago. The singer recalled a baffling exchange with Black Francis who told him, apropos of nothing, to "respect the potato". For some reason this stuck in my head and to this day I sometimes find myself mouthing "respect the potato" when about to mash said vegetable.

Is that a Frankism? Probably not but hey.

Wow. A French guy making a Spanish joke in English. If you really want to, you can practice Esperanto.

I can't drive past a storage place without saying "My life is ... in storage" and then putting on the song.

I'm sure I've been out with people and asked the question, "Whatever happened to pong?" all the while knowing the answer...

I can’t meet anyone named Allison without humming her name to the tune
darwin Posted - 05/02/2018 : 06:34:08
I no longer pronounce "schooner" correctly.

You guy's analyse the lyrics more deeply than I do.

Right now I'm at the Louvre museum... and I feel like hurling myself against the wall screaming "Here I come... AAAAAAAAAARRGH!"

Do you ever say "layers and layers and layers and layers and layers and layers" after someone says "layers"?
darwin Posted - 04/26/2018 : 11:11:37
"bursting" is used an inordinate amount in my house.
Bedbug Posted - 04/26/2018 : 07:17:59
A lot of times I'll use "Frank Black" as an alias.
pot Posted - 04/22/2018 : 03:33:21
I used to spontaneously snap "you fuckin die!" at people, but I had to stop that because some people weren't buying my explanation that I was just goofing around.
Bedbug Posted - 04/22/2018 : 01:12:55
"There was a guy" was a pretty popular one to use back in High School circa 1990.

Just listening to Guy Garvey on radio 6, and during one of his rambles he suddenly went "ooooh" (I think he was talking about choirs or something because he used to be a choir singer, well I suppose he still is if you can count Elbow as a form of alternative post-choir music.

Anyway, he went "oooh" and it sounded just like Kim at the start of Where is my mind? and this inspired me to say "Stop!" abruptly just like Frank. I'm not sure this is necessarily a Frankism though owning to it's spuriousness, however there may have been times I've done this past and I'm not aware.

I also, and this is more of a Toyahism; if something (for example) is a mystery of some sort I sometimes march my arms in the air and clench my fists and sing "it's a mystery" like a new romatic from the 80's

Sometimes when I say "How hard can it be?" I'll repeat it like 5 more times and then say "to be a western star." It's been a while since I did that.
The Maharal Posted - 04/13/2018 : 09:56:44
Who needs that now?
