Hi Guys,

I am hugely into collecting graphic novels these days. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would list the ones I have but that list would be too long. If anyone recommends one I have and have read then it makes for good discussion.

Nice to be back here btw.

Just read about a new Wolverine audio novel. It's not a graphic novel obviously but it may be of interest to you.

I'm currently reading Safe Area Gorazde, by Joe Sacco... fantastic account of his time in Gorazde during the Bosnian War. Highly recommended, but at times horrific.

I know, some very obvious choices there Stuart, had a feeling you were already familiar with them (should also give a shout out to V for Vendetta, of course)! As great as Watchmen is, I was absolutely bowled over by From Hell... I've read it several times, including the appendices... although oddly enough, I've had The From Hell Companion for awhile now, and haven't gotten around to reading it.

I have a particular fondness for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, it's definitely worth reading beyond the first two books, gets quite wacky later on. I went to a Kevin O' Neill signing in Forbidden Planet a few years back and got all my LOEG books signed! As for The Killing Joke, Moore himself feels it's not that great, it was maybe overhyped when it came out but it's an important Batman story.

He he... I have all of these Carl, though possibly not all of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.. just the first two volumes. I love Alan Moore, very interesting guy. I've read all these except for The League, From Hell, and Arkham Asylum. With the sheer volume that I have bought in the past 10 months I'll eventually get around to reading these soon. Loved all of the ones on your list that I have read. Can't go wrong with Batman, I have 35 or so Batman graphic novels. Hush I have read, but imo it's overrated. I found that there were just too many villains in it. I prefer to have a minimal number of villains that Batman faces, no more than two per graphic novel. The Long Halloween is great, and I need to get on and read the other two in the trilogy. I'd recommend:

Batman: The Cult, The Court of Owls, Black Mirror.

Frank Miller's Daredevil Omnibus is absolutely fantastic.

Maus and it's sequel are a must read for anyone, and should be taught in schools. Fantastic but very heavy as it deals with the Holocaust.

Berlin (City of Stones, City of Smoke) by Jason Lutes also amazing, about Germany during the Weimar Republic.

Check out Alan Moore, if you haven't already:

Watchmen.
From Hell.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen series.

As a big Batman fan, I'd recommend (of what I've read):

The Dark Knight Returns.
Batman: Year One.
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth.
The Long Halloween.
The Killing Joke.

I just got Batman: Hush recently, but I've not read it yet. Anyway, good hunting, Stuart!
