I spent the first half of the year doing a lot of travelling and the second half working mostly oblivious to what was going on in the music world. Let's be having your favourites of the year.

Struggling to think of anything new I listened to this year. This one's pretty nice - great vocals and Kurt Vile's possibly the best guitarist going.

Just heard a 2017 cover of Subbacultcha by a band called Fairest on an EP called Reconnecting with Ghosts.

I had a listen to some of their stuff, and I'm afraid I'm not entirely sold. They're alright. Must have had a recent song out on Radio 6 but can't remember what it was or if I liked it. I'm sure I'll hear a track by them sometime in the future and go, who's that? I know that. That's really good.

I'm pleased to learn that she/they are Canadian anyway. I thought she was American. Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with being American, just that Canada is better. Peter Kernel are from Canada (and Switzerland) and have a new album out this year which I'm anticipated will be awesome. I like mountains.

Oh man they're fantastic. Listen to this album (or skip to 7/4 Shoreline if you need immediate convincing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhQGwZlYqDc

And a live video. Might have fallen in love with Feist again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6BLuIm872I

You're probably aware of Broken Social Scene. Her contributions to their albums are phenomenal.

I've not listened to any of her albums, only stuff on YouTube.

She's totally fucking rad though. Love this live studio clip here

Had a sift through a lot of her other content and Youtube and it seems she has a lot of very good stuff out there.
