Every now and then I come across an article like "All 213 Beatles Songs Ranked" and I wonder if the forum has ever tried to do that for the Pixies or FB&C's.

I don't really have the interest in doing my own list, but I'd love to see someone else's.

In the interest of brevity I'd say that the song on the bottom of my list would probably be Ring The Bell, and the song at the top would be No. 13 Baby, with Motorway a close second.

Anyone else have a #1 and a number whatever last is?

I was using sick like I use ill, meaning good.

It's a good song but, one of the weakest on doolittle in my opinion.

The intro is sick

Do you mean sick in a 1989 kinda way or a 2018 kind a way?

Oh man, I would love to know the difference. I'm kind of out of touch with time.

This reminds me of when iTunes used to have a 5 star rating system for every song in your library (not sure if it still does, haven't used it in years). For a while I did actually use it (you could then have playlists for, say, 4 star rated songs...) but the problem was that I'd listen to a song in a certain mood and change its rating.

I think similarly here, it would just become an ever changing list.

I can't remember where I saw an (also) epic "Dancing the manta ray" T-shirt. With a drawing of a guy running and waving his arms while chased by 50s-style flying saucers. Great.

It's the heaven sent outro. Still hypnotic.

... ^ thats the bottom 10, obviously!
stuczuba Posted - 10/17/2017 : 22:47:53
Ring The Bell
Another Toe In The Ocean
Jaime Bravo
Talent
Tenenement Song
River Euphrates (Norton)
Women of War
The Thing
Bam Thwock
Make Believe

I'm quite attached to some of the IC stuff, I think cos I saw them played before I heard the studio takes so they made a much better first impression.

+ Gigantic makes 10. Its tough coming up with a bottom ranking 10, makes you realise how high they set the bar...
stuczuba Posted - 10/16/2017 : 22:36:49

Caribou
I've Been Tired

I was trying to remember which song had the chords from Alabaster, bumped into She's My Way. So good, and Virginia Reel.

Some people say Bossanova killed the mood.

After I rank 'me all I'll work on a defense of CoR.

But I'm tied up right now.

Yes fair point. I guess I am remembering more the crushing disappointment from those first few spins of CoR. From CoP to CoR in less than 10 years....And CoR has still not improved. In fact it took DITS to reel me back in again.
Bedbug Posted - 10/16/2017 : 03:04:11
I'm trying to rank just Pixies songs for now. Then I'll attempt an entire ranking of all FBF.

This is important work.

With both CoR and Honey it's all about what mood I'm in. Could listen to them nonstop for a whole day, and then not again for years.

I think I might have Calistan as my number one. Last, maybe Do You Feel Bad About It, The End of the Summer, Go Find Your Saint, or something off Pistolero. Jaime is pretty shite too.

109 songs on the albums, is that right?

Bam makes 110?

boom chica, rocka, WOW and others?

Do you count surf epic since supposedly it was recorded during Trompe?

114 is the number on Wikipedia I think, including covers and everything (but not including the 12 from Head Carrier) so that would make 126.

That sounds more manageable than I thought at first.

Here is the list of 213 Beatles songs.

They put Good Day Sunshine as number 213, which is a song I actually like a lot. And a bunch of the songs at the bottom are actually really cool.

Of course these lists are meaningless. My opinion is meaningless. Theme from Narc is meaningless. Life is meaningless. Still fun though (and boring).

lists like this are forced and meaningless to me.

it's educational
Jason Bravo Posted - 10/12/2017 : 17:05:48
Man, this would be all over the place. I personally really like Boom, and Jaime. At the same time, it would be hard for myself to not put No 13 at the top of my list also. This is the song that really first grabbed me when I didn't know who the Pixes were, (the outro at that point in time) besides Monkey. I'll never forget that, and the song, the whole song to this day I can put on and thoroughly enjoy 20 some odd years later. Motorway is up there for me, but I don't think 2nd. That title may belong to Alec Eiffel, maybe Ed is Dead. I like Pixies songs in general a hell of a lot more than Beatles songs so a list like this would take me a lot of time and energy, plus I'd be changing my mind every 5 minutes. See, I just realized you included FB songs, so I have to put Ramona up there in the top several certainly. Too many, waaayyy too many!
hammerhands Posted - 10/12/2017 : 10:33:45
We did Survivor for just about every album.

I like 2, 3, 4 of Bedbug's bottom 6. I agree with hardly anything of him.

You could do it like Rolling Stone. We asked 50 Rock Writers to submit a ranked list of 50 tunes. Here are the Top 500 songs.
Bedbug Posted - 10/12/2017 : 09:31:56
Maybe if I start my list from the top 5 and the bottom five I can start to fill out the middle:

Top 5
1. No. 13 Baby
2. Motorway
3. Is She Weird
4. The Sad Punk
5. I've Been Tired
6. Dancing the Manta Ray

Bottom 5
1. Ring the Bell
2. What Goes Boom
3. Snakes
4. Blue Eyed Hexe
5. Another Toe
6. Jaime Bravo

I'm already bored to death doing this. I have no idea how people write entire articles on all 213 Beatles songs giving reasons why a certain song is number 67 not 68.
