Anyone order the Pixies photo book on Kickstarter? Apparently Kickstarter has been hacked and user data has been stolen.

I got my copy today, looks good on my coffee table.

Found that thing on Facebook the other day a bit shameless. Basically telling people to write a review of the book on Amazon to be in with a chance of winning the book.

i'll go through the names at the back later tonight see if i recognize any members from this site. i saw a couple members from the other site mentioned in the front few pages in a special thanks and wondered if they are the same as their usernames from this site ie. surfer_rosa, fartbone, et cetera....

there are some FANTASTIC photos in this book for certain. very cool. and i'm glad it was bound the way it was because it feels like it is built to last. this will occupy a special place on the top shelf out of reach of all the children and future grandchildren and grubby fingered guests. if it gets ruined it will be my fault alone...

I just received my copy today. I have barely had a chance to really look through the book and haven't read any of the text yet.

But af first glance and going through it, it looks really fantastic. High quality. The presentation of the photos is stylized, but in a good way. It's very well done. Tons of photos. Great stuff.

I didn't order a book, since I suspected that the people putting together this project were amateurs, and judging from all the delays, it appears that I was right.

That said, there is a Facebook page dedicated to this book, and the buyers who have received their books seem to be pleased with the product.

Let us know when you receive yours, and tell us how you like it.

ETA: As of this post, the book has one review on Amazon and not a very good one at that. I have to agree with the reviewer, reprinting pictures with no captions or stories to go along with them isn't very interesting.

that's annoying. cheaper than the kickstarter price - especially if you take into account the time value of money.

i really like that button set.

Well, it looks like it's really happening. Books signed by BF are now available for sale for $75 each.

i laughed when i got that one because it was over 30 days since the update prior where they said "will be shipping in just a few days". i saw some pictures of it. looks alright, but not a $75 coffee table book. i shouldn't pan it before i receive so i will reserve judgment until then.....i guess. please be something great . fingers crossed!

BOOKS ARE DONE!
Posted on August 28, 2014 3:55 pm by madtempest

Good news! The book is printed and bound! All 3500 copies are packed up and ready to ship to the fulfillment house for shipping out to backers and anyone who pre-ordered! This means the books will be shipping out to everyone next week!

so they hadn't been shipped out before? that explains the book not arriving yet at shine's.

According to the latest update the book is currently being shipped. Anyone receive it yet? If so, what do you think of the book?
Fissile Posted - 06/22/2014 : 13:08:35
Latest update claims the book is going out at the end of this month.

either that or they will find a printer to print/bind when it is convenient for them.

agree with fissile, amateurs that bit off more than they could chew. i thought the pricing was indicative of lots of research and the ability to get the band to commit to autographs et cetera but perhaps they priced themselves out. should have stuck with the Chinese printer and babysat the autographed pictures to China if they had to....

On second thought; FUCK THAT! $175 is plenty cash to have a quality book printed/bound almost anywhere and still pocket lots of P. I want my fucking PIXIES coffee table book.....as advertised.

I don't know if a printer has been selected yet, but perhaps they should consider Meridian Printing in Rhode Island. Meridian is where the recent Wood Guthrie book, Wardy Forty has been printed

Yup. That's why I didn't put in an order for the book, I had my doubts about the experience of the people putting together the project. I would have risked a lesser amount of money, but this was a bit too much.

Well, I hope everyone who paid gets their book, I'm curious to find out what it's like.

According to the latest Kickstarter update, they switched printers...from a printer in China, to one in the US of Murica.

Did you order a book?

Yeah I did, I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure it was supposed to be out in August/September last year. And then Christmas, and then February, and now it's whenever really.

I can understand your frustration. I don't think it's a deliberate attempt at defrauding anyone. Sounds to me like amateurs in over their heads. Good luck. Let us know when, or if, you get your book.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying that whoever has organised it is up to no good. It is just annoying having the delay. Got serious buyers remorse now.
