Doolittle may have better luck going against TLM rather than Teenager of the Year. And don't get me wrong- I love Doolittle. But I'll go with the underdog on this one. u-mass, the sad punk, planet of sound, the navajo know! One of my favorite pixies songs is bird dream of the olympus mons.

I go with TLM.

Doolittle's is no less weird. An odd buffet, staggered why not.

Doolittle has too many played-to-death hits (Monkey and Here comes your man, especially) for me to really enjoy it as much as the other Pixies albums.

Trompe le Monde still sounds fresh, even if the U-Mass - Palace of the Brine - Letter to Memphis sequence sounds like one big, kind of boring song. Weird song sequencing on that album.

TLM for me, my fave along with SR. Doolittle is great but the only track I still listen to a lot is 'Dead'.

TLM; My favorite Pixies album. Doolittle is my least favorite Pixies album, but it is still awesome. I can't wait to see Doolittle live, though. Did not think I was going, but the wife was wicked into it so yeeha!

And I still love listening to Doolittle, I just love listening to their other albums a little more.

If I was high I would probably more likely have read you properly. To be fair though, your statement in the context of the thread could be taken either way though.

I said La La Love You and Here Comes Your Man are cutesy throwaways. When you come down from your high, read the quote again.

You're right, I probably went too far calling "Here Comes" a throwaway.

Teenager is the ne plus ultra of FB's output. It's his fucking masterwork. Nothing beats it. Nothing!

there was a time that i thought trompe was the peak of frank's genius. now i just feel that bossanova through TOTY is really something for him to be insanely proud of. his whole catalog, sure, but that's such a great run.

But I agree with everything else. My vote goes to TLM. It's also my favorite record ever. I'd even vote for TLM over TOTY.

I understand what a lot of people are saying though, Doolittle has been played to death. Trompe Le Monde has better songs. Doolittle is a better album.

Maybe the fact that most of us have heard it too many times is a victory for it.

VS

Doolittle is a great great album but I'm gonna have to go with The Hoff whose 1989 Looking For Freedom album inspired East Germans to tear down that wall. Sorry Doolittle, you may have been influential but you didn't single-handedly defeat communism.

The songs on Doolittle can be heard in many forms, whether it be early demos to the much later live performances from the Catholic's they all sound more exciting to me than the takes on the LP.

Trompe le Monde however is the album I listen to when I want to hear "new" Pixies music.

Trompe!

TLM.

Doolittle does little for me anymore.

i'm right there with you, fumanbru. trompe is one of the most consistently exciting records. planet of sound! sad punk! alec eiffel!

doolittle's amazing, of course. it just falls into familiarity territory. trompe is always fresh, though.
