I'm trying to sum up the news/rumours we have about Fr'ank's forthcoming European tour. I guess we'll have the official PR in a couple of days but it's more fun trying to find the dates ourselves... So, for now we're aware of the following dates:

June 22nd - Aeronef, Lille, France
http://www.aeronef-spectacles.com/

June 23rd - Hurricane Festival, Germany
http://www.hurricane.de/

June 24th - Southside Festival, Germany
http://www.southside.de/

June 29th-July 1st - Furia Sound Festival, Cergy Pontoise, France
http://www.furia.tm.fr/

July 1st - Werchter Festival, Belgium
http://www.rockwerchter.be/RW2007/fase2/live.asp

July 5th - Doornroosje, Nijmegen, Holland
http://www.doornroosje.nl/

plus hints by Reid Paley that they'll play Manchester at the Night & Day and Liverpool. Anything else I've been missing?

BTW, if there's a mod around here, could you stickify this thread and unstickify the "Autumn '06" one? Thanksify.

That's Basque, I don't know what it says in the text (just stuff about who Frank Black is I guess) but the long and the short of it as that he's playing at Kafe Antzokia in Bilbao on the 12th of July (uztailak).

Would it be a fair guess to estimate late July for Ireland? (Please!)

Head west Frank!

I've just read Cooking Vinyl's "93 - 03 Album" press release again

"One-off London gig on 15th July"

My point is the "one off". Northern peeps be warned.
I missed this bit first time around.

As a guitarist from Manchester I couldn't be any more jealous! Good luck Ding, make us proud, give the rest of us struggling musicians in the north some hope.

A MANCHESTER bass player has been plucked from an unsigned band to perform on a summer tour with Frank Black - the singer of cult pop group The Pixies.

Ding, bassist with Bobbie Peru, has been offered the chance to play on Frank's summer tour at venues across Europe.

He was headhunted from previous tours he has played on as a session musician with Manchester's The Fall and after he performed on PJ Harvey's last world tour.

A band spokesman says: "The other band members of Bobbie Peru are really pleased for Ding and will hopefully be able to play a support slot on the tour because Frank has said he really likes the band's music."

Ding's last gig with Bobbie Peru before jetting off to join Frank, will be at the Roadhouse in Manchester on Friday.>>

I had the chance to see the Pixies in Cardiff. In 1989. So I'd have been four years old. Perhaps a bit too young to appreciate it.

And as far as I know, FB hasn't played a show in Wales ever since.
cptnpasty Posted - 04/25/2007 : 09:00:23
i suppose. i was feelin pretty smug that, of course, there would be a dublin date, but nothing so far.maybe we get a subsequent one when he tours the bluefinger material - even better.and i'm still crying, if you're reading this, frank. look what you've done. i hope you're satisfied....
Carl Posted - 04/25/2007 : 08:37:22
Hi cptnpasty, I imagine he will add a date. To be fair, he has played here a lot over the years, while places like Cardiff sadly get skipped over.
cptnpasty Posted - 04/24/2007 : 06:08:24
how is it possible to tour europe and exclude dublin? how is that even possible?

You want me to cry, is that it frank? is that what you want?

right, i'm crying. does that make you happy? are you happy now?

I got me a ticket for the 15th July London show but would also consider going to Amsterdam for the 4th if I thought he was playing songs from Bluefinger. On Dutch soil I imagine that would be pretty special and probably at the famed Milkweg venue. Is it certain to be more a greatest hits type of tour?

Yeah, could be the case. Still, it's the kind of thing that anyone could make up, I suppose. We shall see!!!
gary13th Posted - 04/21/2007 : 05:26:07
I read on ITV teletext that its a 1 off UK date and that he'll play all the songs from the greatest hits, in order. Though I dont know how true that is.
