I love 'Just Pretending' - I've had it for years, so thought, this lo-fi stuff is ace, I'll get an album, I got one for Christmas, and it sounds very different. Anyone else into My Dad Is Dead? I've seen him mentioned by FB someplace?

I've just been reading an old 93 interview in which Frank namechecks My Dad Is Dead as a band he'd like to do a cover of and having never heard of them I've just given them a quick listen and they seem pretty neat. 'Talk To The Weatherman' (1986) sounds very reminiscent of a certain Pixies tune... Is it 'Gigantic' or am I being dumb?

No, it was a full band. I honestly didn't pay much attention to them. I just remember that because my friend I went to the show with had just lost his father. So, it was kind of touchy that the opening band was called My Dad Is Dead.

The Cure and Nine Inch Nails are one member bands, but they have guys on stage with them.

Wasn't it a one-member band?

I got "Peace, Love & Murder" but never gave it a proper listen.

I saw them open up for the Pixies back in 1990 at the Orpheum in Boston.
