Help- my baby girl (now 11 year old) asked if she could start wearing eyeliner. After singing Subbaculture and trying to ignore the question, she asked again... What is the appropriate age for a girl to begin wearing makeup?

Thanks

No offence taken,
I thought it was lame.

I think just eyeliner isn't terrible at 12.
It's nothing like those pagents for 3 year olds where they piut all that crap on them. That stuff makes me sick.
No offence to Carolynanna and the dance recital, that's different (bit still a bit odd).

Like Baby Face Finster from the Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Either way is pretty funny. I have this image of little Carolynanna in pig tails cutting blow on the table, possibly with a 5 o'clock shadow.

Actually i thought you put "As long as I WAS cutting blow"

That would have been funnier.

Very very funny.

First of all, huh?

Speaking of eyeliner....
My dear little Bella had her dance recital.
They make the kids wear a pound of makeup,
I honestly couldn't believe it.
Someone glued fake eyelashes on my baby!

I've never understood why anyone gives a crap when their kids start wearing makeup. It's not like wearing revealing clothing or anything. I do agree with Zub about letting them know that it's not necessary, though. Makeup is overrated.

Mind you, I don't have any kids, and I think I'd be a terrible parent. So I don't know that my advice is worth much in this situation.

oohhh, tough, my parents pretty much disaproved my me wearing makeup till i was 16, but its kinda nice as i feel comfortable without it, as long as she doesnt see wearing it as neccesary...ie not wanting to leave her room without it i think it should be alright, there is always so much peer pressure at that age, but im sure shes a sensible girl

12 on very very special occasions like big parties

With parental consent i believe the legal age for eyeliner wearing is 14 for girls and 13 for boys.
