I've been following the other thread too with the news about the new album. Where did ya'll see the reference too EDF?

I mean I had heard that they were working on some stuff - but I didn't see any reference to it when the man himself was holding court. Also I notice the tracklist that Frank put up there did not list Deadman's Curve - so are there 2 new projects in the works?? (knowing Frank it's probably a lot more than 2 - but which ones do we actually KNOW about?)

Whoops, duly edited.

I think Charlotte Hatherley was Ash's lead-guitar not bass.

Who?

If ever a thread needed a "Whatever happened with this?", it's this one.

So...

EDF's been working with Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley:

http://www.xfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=347012

Recorded last summer with PJ Harvey’s drummer Rob Ellis
and producer Eric Drew Feldman (Captain Beefheart,
Pere Ubu, Pixies
), the album is more sweet magic fairy-
tale fantasy rock than her previous pop-punk efforts.

Frank And the Black Jew Kitabu?

EDF is the genius sidekick of freedom rock. Anyone heard his solo project?

He's a lapsed Catholic.

Is Eric considered a Catholic? I mean, he has toured as one. But, I guess I don't think of him as a Catholic.

Oh, cheese. Wonderful cheese. I love you.

They should call it Frank Black And A Catholic.

I'm ready for anything he throws at me. Each Catholic album released raised my tolerance for this americana/country sound. Years of listening to it album after album has diluted me well. Sometimes I forget I used to use the word quirky. That bubble burst a long time ago. Chorus verse chorus has never seemed so simple.

I think i'm gonna go play Two Reelers and get my fix.

As much as I hate to say it, the Rabbit song doesn't sound weird at all. Then again, we don't know if it's really a part of the EDF project.

it's nice being old enough to appreciate artists when they age and the work they do currently. I used to really resent change in sounds, etc.

You know Fbc, weird Frank, the one who used to whoop and yibble and make me giggle. I don´t care that he´s not particularly loud anymore, he´s got a baby so mebbe there´s enough volume at home already.

Frank's had a huge burst of creativity of late. Good times ahead!

Oh yeah, fabulous news.
kathryn Posted - 03/22/2006 : 08:25:24
I giggle just thinking about their collaborating. Unrestrained joy -- that's my feeling when I think "EDF + FB."

It's gonna kick ass, people!

I got some heaven in my head

I sure hope so. That one comment from Frank about EDF is the highlight of the 5 or so pages of recent chat for me. Great news indeed. The only thing is, now i'm anticipating that album more so than Fastman. So much sweet sweet music.

oh yeah, when you say weird, are you talking Frank Black and Teenager of the Year? Now they were crazy Frank.
vilainde Posted - 03/22/2006 : 08:14:17
I miss both weird Frank and screaming Frank, and it looks like we're gonna get both on the EDF record. Yeah!
