Forgetting great ideas, the bane of the artist. :)

I made up a chord recently. It was so beautiful when picked slowly. Then I forgot it.

wow! sounds nice / you're too kind.

byrthfood Posted - 04/13/2005 : 18:57:04
it's a Dm7
fbc Posted - 04/12/2005 : 09:12:28
Nope, that's not it...maybe the missing 'Well' chord though.

How about your take on Jaina Blues, HW?
hWolsky Posted - 04/12/2005 : 05:34:58
E--W--
B--A--
G--S--
D--T--
A--E--
E--X--

I'm a regular kid!
Carl Posted - 04/10/2005 : 12:55:32
I saw it transcribed in Total Guitar this way, as frank black conspiracy has it, so I used to play it like this;

G7sus4

E--1--
B--1--
G--0--
D--0--
A--3--
E--3--

Though that sounds real nice, I think Doog's second one is closer, which is how Guitar World transcribed it, except the the open low E is not picked;

E--X--
B--6--
G--5--
D--0--
A--0--
E--X--

ThomasL Posted - 04/10/2005 : 12:30:31
This one works for me.

e--5--
B--3--
G--2--
D--0--
A--0--
E--x--

if i was a famous rock star, i would help my tabber fans. so there, frank.
frank black conspiracy Posted - 02/27/2005 : 16:09:11
just a chord or two would be just fine (thats if he ever sees our tabs. bet he laughs so hard at our feeble but try-hard attempts)
Levitated Posted - 02/27/2005 : 14:01:36
Yeah it would be great if The Man could give us a help on here
frank black conspiracy Posted - 02/27/2005 : 05:56:26
it sure is

i would love to know the true chord, but at the mo i'm having fun with number 13's version
PixieSteve Posted - 02/27/2005 : 05:43:00
man a lot of them sound pretty close... it's hard
frank black conspiracy Posted - 02/26/2005 : 17:10:26
i've heard so many different versions of this that i'm thinking we could all be right

where's the man when you need him. if there's one person that would know...

where for art thou moe
fudd Posted - 02/26/2005 : 17:00:54
Yeah, I think you're right. My perfect-pitch son tells me it's this (only one difference from one of Doog's):

--1--
--1--

frank black conspiracy Posted - 02/26/2005 : 04:01:35
i don't think it's a 'G' chord, like BLT said

There's at least 2 guitars playing that opening strum, and I think they're playing slightly different chords. The acoustic sounds like a chord, one of the overdrive guitars on the right sounds like just open strings.
I'm pretty sure either of these two will get you close enough.

e---1-----1-----
B---1-----1-----
G---0-----2-----
D---0-----0-----
A---0-----0-----
E---0-----0-----

edit:
Actually, I think I've got it!

e--x--
B--6--
G--5--
D--0--
A--0--
E--0--

I remember FB playing the D's as a barre on the A string, so this makes sense. There's a couple of clashing notes, I think thats what makes it so hard to figure out.

it's definately a variation of D.

Number 13 has it sounding nice, similar to my 2nd chord up top, but I add the D root note on the A string to give it a little more beef. listening to the live recordings it sound more a barre chord than an open ringing out (hence the extra finger on the fret board).

e---x---
b---6---
g---5---
d---0---
a---5---
e---x---

It's so similar to HDN but that opening chord is just too 'pretty' major sounding.
The Pixies version is a little dirtier (sorry, best way i could describe it).

(why do I have the feeling it's still wrong?)
Cheeseman1000 Posted - 02/13/2005 : 15:17:37
I said don't get me started...
I've got three or four that work just as well:

You're usually looking at a root of G, with a seventh and a sus4 in there. Alternative cobinations include 303213 (as apparently shown to Gary Moore by George Harrison), or even 553533, which may sound out at first - try letting it ring and check out the sympathetic harmonic.

Good grief. I'm plagiarising my own thesis.

BLT Posted - 02/13/2005 : 15:00:26
I think it's a D, not a G. Out of the options listed here, I think number 13's is closest.

353533 has always sounded right to me.

I don't think it was a strum but a hit on the guitar body (maybe neck?).

See FBC's suggestion. Maybe ask Cheeseman1000 to elaborate further, heh

Howdy. I'm pretty sure its FBC's first choice, 330011, a G7sus4. That's the nearest I've found to it, and I know one or two guitar magazine transcribers who'll agree with me.

Don't get me started on the 'Hard Day's Night' chord though...

I've always played a D chord.. but play all 6 strings

number 13 Posted - 02/07/2005 : 15:22:36
You can play the D chord like this : A and D strings open, with C at the fifth case on the G string and F at the Sixth case on the B string. It sounds right to me. Or simply a D chord at the fifth case...
frank black conspiracy Posted - 02/07/2005 : 15:19:20
I've seen these floating around...

e---1-----x---
b---1-----6---
g---0-----5---
d---0-----5---
a---3-----5---
e---3-----x---

but i'm yet to find the right one, i think.
i've heard several different chords on several different tracks so i'm none the wiser than above.

It's D if I'm not wrong.
