I want to go to Ireland on holidays next month. Where should I go? What should I drink? What should I view? Any great gigs?

Thanks, guys.

Sligo sounds like a hobbit village

No problem WATD, Yeats is buried in Drumecliff in Sligo which is North west and close to Galway so worth a visit.

Hey Vovat i missed yer question 1st time.

Leprachauns are similar to your presidents brain, in that their existance is extremely hard to prove.

Ireland is the second most beautiful country in the world....after New Zealand.

I wholehaertedly endorse the hiring and car suggestion.
my wife and i drove round ireland for 2 weeks a couple of years ago, and it was truly the best 2 weeks i have ever had in my life.

The south is the most beautiful.
doolin a particular highlight.
i also recommend camping cause it's very cheap, and plenty of very nice camp grounds.
also, make sure you try the seafood chowder at every town you stop at - you won't regret it, and also try Bulmers Cider...it's beautiful.

man o man, i love that country!

have fun whore...

speaking as a visitor, i can recommend the south. the north (of ireland, not northern ireland) is not so beautiful - there is high unemployment, and i had a general feel of depression there. altough i liked the island of keel !
dublin was nice, yes.
but as a tourist, i like scotland more...hope all those irish pixies on this forum aren't angry now

Thanks a lot, Sam!

I want to rent a car, but I'm scared: You know, every country has its own driving rules. And I'm travelling all alone, so I'll probably get lost many times. But getting lost can be a funny situation after all.

I want to visit the "real" Ireland, the day by day living, if it means something :)
Also I want to visit Yeats grave. Where is it?

You'll have a ball. Mind you October weather can be really bad,not unlike the rest of the year!!

My favourite Bars to visit

Dakota bar , william street/ Dublin city centre

Foggy dew Dame st " / " "

Whelans Wexford street / " " Live music and good indie club

Bruxelles Best jukebox ever/ City centre

Also you should visit if you have the time:

Galway / Great city, good bars and live music

Cork / Great craic, good people

Co.Wicklow has some amazing scenery and really cools pubs such as Johnnie foxs.

I would recommend renting a car as public transport is shocking for people on a budget who want to see alot of the country.

Also it depends on what you are after really, Dublin is great fun , but is not a proper represenation of the country, you could probably rent a car and get a good feel for the place in 2 weeks. Most citys can be driven to in about 3 hours.

Also go to the Guinness brewery for some awesome stout and for the best view of the city.

Enjoy your stay.
