Air guitar is so passe - air drumming is where it's at. What was the last record that made you drum that air?

I'm going with 50 Foot Wave's self titled mini.

I guess we are all frustrated drummers as my dad used to say. I especially can't stop tapping my feet. This is also down to my love for dancing though I think.

Help me! He keeps making me post!

What about air-shooting, Rich Gilbert-style? I do that a lot.

air drumming is quite obviously much better than ait guitar. Last song in which i did this too, was funnily enough, the same as cheesy, - 50ft rock!

whilst listening to music on the PC I quite sadly play the drums on my mouse with my first two fingers, I just cant help it I do it to every bloody song! btw for the lowder beats I use my nails for extra sound.

I don't air-guitar or air-drum
I tend to just dance like a loon
if the music is great
generally don't much give a shit
where I am or who's watching
I find I never have the problem of crowding

Anything by Pigface (Especially 'Burundi' from A New High In Low)

Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix (the 16-minute one / Mitch Mitchell kicks all ass)

Take a bite of the chocolate coffin.

Of course, how would you do the big rides or crashes?

I've gotten yelled at several times by teachers for my air-drumming performances. In class I'll take out two pens and start tapping away at my binder and tapping my feet on the floor. Then I start whistling and get this vacant look in my eyes. I really only snap out of it when someone yells at me. School can do that to a person.

Hey nuclear war and a hot bed of trouble, make with the pennance, repent on the double.

Yup... I am with you guys that don't know how to air gutair. I air drum in the car... on my lap when my husband is driving and on the steering wheel when I am driving, on tables and on my hips when I am standing up. It's fun because my husband does it too :)

I can play real guitar and real drums. Unfortunately I look even more ridiculous playing actual guitar than playing air guitar.

Denis-
neither one looks particularly "cool" in my opinion! The only reason I engage in either, when I do, is more an internal impulse. Whenever my actual sensible frame of my mind kicks in, I cease each activity immediately.

At least when my friends make fun of me for playing air guitar, I tell them to shutup because I can actually play real guitar. So I have the right to pantomime what are essentially the CORRECT chords and notes...

who am i kidding? I'm such a loser

I know a guy who did second on the latest Air Guitar contest in Paris (nouveau casino).

I'm planning to do a air band.

i hurt my wrist (as i posted to this forum) last time i really went for it air drumming, you should do some warm-ups first i reckon. 'dance war' always gets me going!

Go go the average man! What are you looking for average man? The ain't nothing average about me man!
Hanoi333 Posted - 09/21/2004 : 00:49:44
I like both air guitar and air drumming! Air drumming feels more exiting, but tires out much more. Whenever you hear in a song that real raw rock sound combined with a pulsing drum, then I cannot control myself anymore and feel like airdrumming.
For example in "Hate Me" from FB.

One of my co-workers is the world air guitar champion- she just won the title in Finland.
benji Posted - 09/20/2004 : 23:10:36
same here...
no idea how to play a guitar, let along play air guitar....air drumming makes much more sense to me.
you know what to "play" just by listeneing to it so easily....

I always air drum and never air guitar. I guess that's cause I can get the beat but I have no idea what to do for guitar. Air guitar just seems so lame anyway.

benji Posted - 09/20/2004 : 23:02:02
i gotta agree McCheese - i am always air drumming, but i never play air guitar.
think it's cause i have always wanted to learn the drums, but have never got round to it...

many people have commented positively on my air drumming skills.

was actually doing air drumming just before i read this - to 'i know i am but what am i?' by Mogwai, but thats not a very good air drumming song.

Lotsa shit. I'm always air drumming...
and beating on the steering wheel...
and tapping my coffee cup.
I'm one of those annoying bastards thats
always beating on something, but I can groove, dammit!

Most recent was to Pearl Jam's Ten...
it was the only disc they had at the bar we played Saturday
- played it between sets.
I haven't listened to Ten in its entirety
in more than ten years.
It was like being at a party in the early 90's...for like a minute.
Then, I drank more...and the moment passed and was forgotten about.

Hmmm , does drumming on your legs count? You know, slapping your legs in time with the beat, or does it have to actually be into the air?

I don't drum into the air much. No way near as much as I play air guitar.
