they're making one. the Farrely brothers that is.

would you say they are treading on sacred territory? or should they have the right to re-interpret the classic vaudevillian television show for modern audiences..

supposedtly Benecio Del Toro is attached. who can only be Mo, as far as i can guess..

at least with the Farrelys, i don't see them toning down the violence, which is inherent to this type of humor. imagine a Disney version of the THREE STOOGES..

I love the Three Stooges, and can't stand the Farrely brothers' movies. I don't see the same type or level of wit in their writing and directing as I did in even the worst (last) days of the Stooges. I think this was a very bad choice, but what's new?

Crispin Glover would play a good Shemp.

Frank Black should play Curly.

It's on Victory about one block north of Western.

While I've never been a huge Stooges fan or anything, I still think they're a definite American institution, and care really should be taken with this movie, if it is indeed made.

Someone like Bill Murray might be able to pull off Larry. That was the first thing that popped into my head. Maybe because you wouldn't need to do much to his hair.

I read an interview with the Farrelies about this recently. They want Russel Crowe to play Moe! And I think he wants to do it, apparently! And Mel Gibson is also interested, being a big Stooges fan!

blt,

haven't seen this store. that sounds like something worth checking out.

i grew up watching the Stooges, like most healthy kids did. they are dear to my heart. i personally can't see them pulling it off, but then, i'd rather see the Farrely brothers do it than some shlock commercial or TV director. they seem like they might "get" it, and, i'm sure, they're big fans.

so who should play Larry and Curly?

Hey floop, have you ever been to the Three Stooges store on Victory Blvd. in Glendale? It's not far from where you worked in Burbank. Even though I'm a lifelong Stooges fan, I just can't force myself to go in there.

So when are they going to do the Family Circus movie?

Anyone who held the original Stooges work that highly - you know, sacred, untouchable, whatever - shouldn't have any reason to stand against this, no matter what the quality of the movie may be. The old stuff will still be there after this film is complete, and if the idea is really so offensive I don't think it's that difficult NOT to watch it.

As for asking whether they have the right to do it: if they can afford it, they certainly do. Come on, it's 2004; rights = commodities, as far as I can tell.

Maybe there's a Three Stooges forum that's having a debate about this, reminiscent of something I remember seeing when some band reunited back in the spring...

Nothing is ever something.

Many things are sacred in this world, I don't think this is one of them.

It will either be good, not good, great, or suck ass. That's my prediction.

And thanks for the heads up, I had no idea =)

Floop Rules, I think I am the only person cooler than him ;)

As long as they have a Curly Joe I'm fine with the idea. He was hilarious!
The only time I've laughed more is after reading the Family Circus!

I'd say it's a pretty bad idea to make a Three Stooges movie without any of the original Stooges. I mean, weren't they pretty integral to the roles?
