This is hardly a new topic but it's always one that interests me (helps to find out any other gigs that may have slipped under my radar)- so who's going to see who?

For me it's Mastodon, Slayer, Slipknot on October 9th, and then Minus on the same night (going to be very very interesting night!), good old 80's Matchbox B-line Disaster at the end of October and Dillinger Escape Plan in November. I've somehow landed up with these all being very \m/ RAWK \m/ - but hey, should be fun.

Toying with seeing Mclusky in October since I managed to miss them at the Leeds Festival because I was being stupid and watching a very mediocre Soulwax instead.

I am off to see Justice tonight, which should be messy.

I have Nine Black Alps coming up in a week or so too.

I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

not cancelled according to nme, yeah it is that one, and I do like shellac, thats the crux of it really, couldn't get tickets to the last one, annoyingly.

I don't think I'll bother, 120 quids is millions to me at the moment, millions and millions and millions

is this the mini ATP in december tre?
i'm not goint to that one - the lineup just isn't interesting enough i don't think.
saw shellac twice in a day last ATP, so not to fussed about this time, and while lightning bolt sound great, they'll probaly play in the toilets or something going from their antics last ATP.

Pixies - 10/13
Pixies (again) - 10/14
Brian Wilson!!!! - 10/16

also, Hollywood Bowl has excellent acoustics and you can bring in your own alcohol. that's right, i said bring in your own alcohol.

Speaking about gigs, I received this from the Bob Mould newsletter, some of you living in Washington might be interested, the lineup looks great:

<<Henry Rollins, Sandra Bernhardt, John Cameron Mitchell and Bob Mould to headline WEDrock at the 9:30 Club
Tuesday, October 5th, 2004 at 8PM
A Benefit Concert for Freedom To Marry

"However you feel about the institution, are we really going to sit back and let Bush enshrine fear and loathing into the Constitution?" – John Cameron Mitchell

"Being a real American, all about that freedom, I can’t think of anything more hateful and Un-American than someone taking the time to block the union of two people: When I see the happiness of the faces of the same sex couples as they take their vows, it’s so completely wonderful and brave and American." – Henry Rollins

"The fact that the right is making a gigantic moral issue of gay marriage should outrage most Americans. If you take the religious argument out of the picture, you eliminate a lot of the rhetoric that the Right base their arguments on." – Bob Mould

John Cameron Mitchell, Bob Mould, Steve Gdula and Josh Wood invite you to WEDROCK on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 8:00PM. All proceeds from the benefit rock concert at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club will be allocated to Freedom to Marry and their fight to gain National marriage equality.

Following the success of its NYC predecessor, DC’s WEDrock promises patrons a night to rock out and speak out against discrimination. Rockstar legend Henry Rollins will host the evening along with performances by the incomparable Sandra Bernhardt, Hedwig and the Angry Inch mastermind John Cameron Mitchell, Husker Du and Sugar’s revered front man Bob Mould, MTV’s Total Request Live heart-throb Ben Jelen, Seattle’s premiere gay alt-country darlins Purty Mouth, electro-clash pop tarts Avenue D and the swaggering atmospheric sleaze rock of Morel!

The proceeds from the concert will to go support Freedom to Marry’s activities in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Freedom to Marry, the gay and non-gay partnership working to win marriage equality nationwide is headed by Evan Wolfson, one of America’s leading lesbian/ gay rights advocates and lawyers.

General admission tickets are $40. VIP tickets are available for purchase at $100, giving the ticket-holder exclusive balcony access, complimentary cocktails courtesy of Svedka Vodka and entry to an after-show "meet-and-greet" with several of the evening’s performers.

Tickets can be purchased through Tickets.com by dialing 800.955.5566 or 703.218.6500, or at the 9:30 Club Box Office. The 9:30 Club is located at is 815 V Street, NW,   Washington, DC. http://930.com>>

Fuck yeah they are! People who appreciate the demented music of the Melvins are few and far between...I tip my proverbial hat to you, apl4eris

mike watt was indeed in the minutemen, as well as fIREHOSE. he's been on his own now since about 1991, with three records to show for it - his latest just came out last month. when i say "on his own" what i mean is "he's recorded and toured with just about every notable musician and performer on the music scene from iggy pop to eddie vedder."

give the man his props.

So jealous of all of you seeing Gibby Hayes - grrrrr.

Thanks for that Domestiques - saw DEP at Leeds festival and they blew me away - especially since I didn't even think I'd like them. One of the best live bands I've ever seen.
vilainde Posted - 09/13/2004 : 06:06:19
Still haven't booked anything, but I'll buy tickets for Carl Craig on Oct. 16th, the Blues Explosion on Oct. 18th and Br Danielson on Dec. 16th.

Salt Lake City doesn't get very many of the new acts coming through, but as you can sort of see, we tend to get a lot of 'old school' bands. I need to move ....

I saw Kelly Hogan and Nora O'Connor on Friday night. I'll be seeing They Might Be Giants at the end of this month, Camper Van Beethoven in October, and the Pixies in December.

Funny you should ask, Surfer Rosa, cause we're about to embark on a wild concert-going spree the likes of which I've never experienced before. Obviously, I'm excited - I don't get out much, and everybody's comin' outa the woodwork!! Wheeeeeee

Gibby Haynes & His Problem, Sept. 21 Chicago

DEVO!!, Sept. 24, Chicago (maybe gonna try to sneak around the Nike Devo thing the day before!)

Ghost, Sept. 25, 2004, Columbus

Pixies!, Oct.4, Columbus

Ministry (possibly with Skinny Puppy opening), Oct. 9, Cincinnati

Laurie Anderson, Oct. 11, Oxford, Ohio

Black Heart Procession, Oct. 15, Columbus

Blonde Redhead, Oct. 19, Columbus

Social Distortion, Oct. 30, Chicago

Pixies!, Nov. 15, Chicago

edit: Just waitning for Tom Waits and Shane MacGowan to announce their US tour dates. Then I'll be in heaven, not that I'm picky.

Well Slayer are legendary and if you know there stuff its a great show, but it probably would be Slipknot, they put on such a great show, really great, DEP are a little off kilter but they also do a fantastic set, so between DEP and Slipknot really.
