So what is everyone upto this weekend?

I am going to log off now and watch two films I hired out. Identity and Thirteen. Anyone seen them?

Tomorrow I am going to my mate's flat in town to burn my CD's for the CD compilation swap game that Benji started. And tomorrow night I am going to a house party with Bumblebeeboy2, two doors down from his flat to see Nine Black Alps (the just signed band that I have predicted great things for) and 4 other bands. If they end up as big as I predict then this should be one legendary night.

Boy am I bigging this band up. Ignore me, they're shit!

I remember godskitchen it used to be around the corner from the custard factory at the sanctuary, there's a lot going on in birmingham at the moment (just as I move, fookin typical) i'll keep posting the uber-action if you like, there's a lot goes on with that. Birmingham is riddled with promoters! They're everywhere, nearly everyone I know is working with/for a band/DJ/performance artist. you definitely should mike.
we bought 2 - one with beach girls and cave girls on it - beach girls was pure 80's bliss about these 3 friends who go stay at an uncles beach house after finishing high school - obviously one is a virgin while the other 2 are sluts. and obviously a big party ensues with a fair portion of nudity and hilarity culminating in the virgin doing the dirty with a hitchhiker. great stuff.

the other has revenge of the drunken master and another kung fu movie which i can't remember. revenge was fabulous - one of the best things about it was that of course it was over dubbed from the Chinese to English, but all the guys and girls had either an upper class English accent or an Australian accent. Was very surreal.

we're gunna get some more this weekend.

this weekend, friday i went for drinks with mates to celebrate finishing our jobs, drank too much, straight after work, went to bed early. saturday went to see the anchorman, actually quite funny i thought, then more drink... met up with homers pet monkey later, we went to house party thing with bands, drank loads, was wasted, don't remember seeing or hearing any bands, homers creepy mate kissed the back of my gf's head, weirdo. yesterday watched the grand prix, was great, then went out drinking with a couple of old mates, was lovely catching up, got very drunk, spent a fortune (mainly on taxis!) and had a lovely japanese meal. today i have a very sore throat.

And it's hard to be a human being, and it's harder as anything else, and I'm lonesome when you're around, and I'm never lonesome when I'm by myself, and I miss you when you're around.

Great week-end for me. Had my Friday off (hey, someone has to take all the days off that Monsieur doesn't have). My sisters visited us on Thursday night, and I spent the following day with them. Went to the record store, bought Wire's Pink Flag, The Cramps' Off The Bone and Björk new CD. On Friday evening we went out to a restaurant with a bunch of friends, and then drank a couple of beers at a friend's flat til 4am. Saturday was non-existent, wake up very late and didn't do anything, then in the evening we went to a bar with the same friends as the day before, drank beers and margaritas, then to a disco, drank beers, then to another disco with 2 awesome DJs and a great MC, drank ti-punch. Went to bed at 5am, drunk. On Sunday afternoon I rehearsed with my band, played River Euphrates, In Heaven and a couple of shitty songs.
That's funny, we nearly didn't go out at all during the summer, with all my friends on vacation and all, and then suddenly my September agenda is filled. I have another party on Tuesday, then on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I think I'll skip the Tuesday one.

our weekend was nice and quiet.
Friday night – got a pizza, watched some crappy TV and drank a few beers. When the misses got home from the pub, we went to our local for a real ale – was in bed by 10:45.
Saturday – went to Brixton Market so we could get this special curry paste which we love. Managed to not get attacked and then went to ASDA to buy some supplies for our Yellow Prawn Curry which was fabulous. Drank a very nice bottle of Pinot Gris and watched Revenge of the Drunken Master which was hilarious. Our local Pound Land sells these dvd’s with 2 films on a dvd for £1…Revenge of the Drunken Master was the best one we’ve got so far, though we haven’t watched Cave Girl yet.
Favourite line from the film: “Why do you wish to kill this man?” “Because he is an unqualified Acupuncturist!”
Sunday – met up with some friends from New Zealand who’re halfway through an 8 month tour of Europe. Had yummy beer and then went to this fabulous Moroccan restaurant. Were then going to watch the Pet Shop Boys play some music for the silent film “Battleship Potemkin” but it started raining so we went home.

Ended up watching Once Upon A Time In America. Imagine a very classy gangster flick directed by Sergio Leone. Which it actually is. Very good indeed, but I'd recommend setting by a considerable amount of your life to watch it, its very long.

So, I finally got my X-Wing

Friday: Got drunk with four Tanzanian guys I met on a parkbench in the Born. Continued to Plaza Real, where local po-lice began to pick on my friends but just to show their attentions weren´t based in anything so trivial as melanin-content in skin threw a beer-grenade at me.
Saturday: Helped my brother, who is visiting, find a birthday present for his girlfriend. Thunder and lightning storm, had overmuch rum in a redlit basement.
Today: Moving apartment, figuring out how to get 300 kilos of books from Gotico to Santa Coloma. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee.

My head hurts, my ankle hurts and my friend kissed the back of Bumble's girlfriend's head for some strange reason. Apparently.

Boy was I pissed. I have realised too that Nine Black Alps have somehow managed to get their hands on all the songs that Kurt was gonna write.

What a cool fucking party!

Last night I got so torn that I blacked out and (apparently) fell down while pissing in my friend's front yard. They had to carry me inside and throw me on the couch. I have really fuzzy memories of somebody taking my shoes off for me. Somehow I managed to keep my lighter through it all.

So, now that I'm laid up and on Cipro (really messin' me up), we have a few movies to watch. Two Kurosawa movies: Dodeska-den and Kagemusha, Chinese Connection (Bruce Lee), Room Service (Marx Brothers), and Kill Bill Vol.2.

Guess we'll have to check if that restaurant has Cambodian quesadillas some other day.

I spent the morning getting in an argument with one of the parents at my daughters soccer game. I'm the coach. Ahhh, good times. I ended up telling him he was "being an asshole to me". He was, but I shouldn't have said it. Fortunately, I don't think the players saw it.

Offerw - I love that you walk your cats - my mom does the same with hers & her great danes - it looks insane!

ObsufcateByWill - sorry your weekend sounds like it's a tough one.

For the weekend - so far got drunk last night, finished reading Motley Crue - The Dirt (true trash rock and roll), gone underwear shopping, scored some fine weed and convinced my husband that I'm getting a tattoo.

I think I may be going through some weird early onset midlife crisis.

Tomorrow I'll be the picture of domesticity and roast my man some chicken.

Yesterday: Helped my Dad sort some paperwork out.
Today: Visit Mom in hospital. Probably make soup for dinner.
Tomorrow: Go to volunteering thing. Visit Mom in hospital.

Reminds me of a show that's been going here for years called the Jim Rose Circus, but it is not nearly as big or fully-developed as the Uber Cabaret looks to be. http://www.ambient.ca/jimrose/ http://www.jimrosecircus.com/

oooh.. I'll have a look round the fish markets, I'm moving in with a girl who is a non principled vegetarian, she doesn't like the taste of meat but does like fish, I'm having to learn me a load of new recipes, I have a good founding though as my ex's favourite food was seafood so I learned a lot due to the art of courting.

Here's a couple of the shots taken at shows (not by me) and a link, It's vaguely based around the pagan calender, imbol, lammas and the like, it's both spiritual and totally fucked, Jon is going to go very far with this, I've known him since we were young and he's destined for big things, he practically sparks when he walks he's buzzing with ideas..

I'll take the pics down in a bit (bound to slow the page down) and as soon as I get mine scanned in I'll post you a link

Mmmm. Thank you, it sounds gooood! What herbs are in the bouquet garnier?
Have you tried bottled clam juice in place of vegetable stock? Sounds a little off maybe, but it really does a nice trick in gumbo and shrimp (prawn) or crawdad etouffe.

The Uber Cabaret sounds like fucking blast. I'm green with envy. I'd love to see your photos.

On-topic, I'm home sick on one of the most beautiful days this year. Bleh.

The exhibition is part of uber caberet in my city, uber caberet (my oldest friends platform) is a strange event combining live music, performance art, spoken word and the like, it takes place in uber cool custard factory in birmingham, there's been about five and this time Uber Jon wants me to put my pictures in it, I think they suck so I have always refused but the devious little minx has already put me on the flier so I can't refuse, 'cos I work in hospitals most of the pictures are pretty medical, close ups of instruments from quite odd angles, sometimes they look shapely and innocent and sometimes they look pretty twisted (not always clean instruments) and the rest of the pictures are sinister ones of ordinary objects, If I mend my scanner I'll put some up after the move, but I think they're pretty mediocre myself. The caberet itself can be a disturbing affair (my friend has been known to sew his face together and ram needles in places) and alot of people take refuge in the medicine bar, this time no escape 'cos there will be big blown up evil tre photo's of sinister speculums and reamers and the like!.

Seafood Gumbo
1 tbsp plain flour
1 tsp paprika
olive oil
12 oz monkfish
125g Prawns
Green Pepper
Okra
Onions
Celery
(tin!) chopped tomatoes
1 pint vegetable stock
2 garlic cloves
bouqet garnie-thingy (sp??)
1 lemon
tobasco sauce
worcester sauce

Chop monkfish chunky like, heat oil in pan, mix flour and paprika and use it to coat monkfish, fry off monkfish till brown on all sides and remove from pan, put chopped onion, celery, pepper okra crushed and garlic in the pan and fry for five minutes (or untill they are softish) add vegetable stock, bouqet garnie-thing and tinned tomatoes bring to boil then allow to simmer for 15 mins, remove bouquet add the monkfish prawns, juice of one lemon as much tobasco and worcester sauce as you like, heat for 5 more minutes and it's ready

Thats how I remember making it but I was under the influence

Simon, I keep the kitties indoor to save the town from their evil. When I let them out they have to supervised so I call that "walking the cats"

My Saturday plans have gone for a loop. My partner has to work so I'm plodding around at home all day.

Thirteen was good. Holly Hunter has the knack to make me feel very sad for the characters she does. The Piano, Crash, Broadcast News, Thirteen.........

Which one is Identity? Who's in that?

I saw Thirteen awhile back and liked it, it was so painful though. I had a single mom and while it wasn't quite THAT extreame, I related to a lot of it.

Last night I watched some of the final season of Sex and the City and also did some shopping after work. Didn't get a pedicure, but I did get a lovely new fall bag. And some new CD's.

Soon I will shower and run off to my town events. Hope everyone has a lovely day!
