What kind of coffee does everyone drink, if any? And how much?

I like just plain black coffee, mostly. Some flavored stuff is good like Hazelnut, vanilia (sp) ect. Amaretto and liquor flavored stuff isn't my fave. Do not get into the coffee house half caf/ half decaf mocha latte's and shit. And I drink it most of the morning at work and them sometimes we have some in the afternoon.

Again, I am the 4th one here at work and again no one has made coffee but the funny thing is as soon as I make it, they will all drink it.

I know! I'm the biggest food snob out, and I find myself liking nescafe instant coffee! go fig!

Hence she is the spawn of Caffe Nero, not that Caffe Nero is the spawn of the devil.

Slaveish - if you get abuse, then its fully justified. Not only is it instant and rubbish, but it's Nescafe! What were you thinking?!

um, I've been drinking Nescafe Clasico- the instant coffee imported from Mexico. It's amazingly good. I feel like I'm going to get a lot of shit for this.

Is that in honor of the fire in Rome during Nero's reign as Emperor?

Oh yeah, big time. There's alternatives here though at least: Costa and Coffee Republic are OK, Caffe Nero is my favourite. They put double the espresso in all coffees and use only fair trade.

They maka the good coffee, ah? as they don't say in Italy.

I don't drink coffee very often.

Mostly plain old water.

I buy fair-trade organic teas, though.

Somehow I feel I'm betraying myself in saying that. Dunno why.

Sheetz gasoline stores have some pretty good coffee. Anyway good for Brazil for flooding the market. Some coffee is way to expensive $6-$8 a pound is plenty. Anything above that is price gouging.

Just for the record, in the US coffee at Starbucks (and similar stores) is less than $2. It's the fufu mochas and the ilk that will cost you around $4.
Homers_pet_monkey Posted - 09/09/2004 : 10:50:57
I agree to a degree. I don't see the point in spending so much money on a coffee from one of those trendy coffee shops. What the hell happened to going to pubs and getting plastered eh?

Just kidding, milkshakes on the other hand. Now I would pay a lot of money for a quality milkshake.

Coffee is coffee is coffee to me. I never understood why anyone would go into a Starbucks and pay four or five dollars for a coffee that tastes just as good and is a fraction of the cost at a Wawa gas station.

Only snooty wankers will pay five bucks for a stinkin' cup of beano. But hey, who am I to judge?

Anyway it is an interesting (economic)discussion about free-market.

There is a long history of coffee-producing countries having bad relations, particularly due to some flooding the markets while other try to stabilize the price. I think in the past Brazil in particular produced too much coffee from the perspective of other coffee-producing countries. I believe that other countries have a problem with Vietnam because they have flooded the market with the robusta bean and driven down the price of coffee.

Personally I still like the Vietnamese coffee with its more inferior bean better than the more superior bean, but that is personal taste.

You're right and the robusta bean is suppose to be better for espresso than the arabica bean.

I love coffee it is yummy
yummy yummy yummy
coffee it is lovely
I like to drink it
seven times a day
From a shiny mug
or a matt one
I'm not really fussy
except about my coffee
it has to be black
no yucky milky sugar
or other flavoured crap
strong black coffee
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Starbucks and Nero and the rest of them can fuck off, if I have to order there, I'm orderind a large black coffee from the waiter dude, not a grande americano from the whadjamacallit

And the strawberry it be angry
(although tre no think it look much like a strawberry)

Due to Darwin`s reply about the Vietnamese coffee I found some more non-commercial information about Vietnam`s coffee and its quality and position in the world market.
In this article even the goverment officials of Vietnam admit the lower quality of its bean and promise more diversity. This has to do with the problems of the world coffee market as a whole.
On the other hand it is also clear that other countries are suddenly in treat for their coffee market and blame Vietnam for all that. hen the reaction is to try to form a front and block the export of Vietnam as much as possible by giving arguments about the quality and working conditions, environment etc. I am not really sure the situation in Africa and Brasil is already that much better. Anyway it is an interesting (economic)discussion about free-market.

Personally I still like the Vietnamese coffee with its more inferior bean better than the more superior bean, but that is personal taste.
And like I said before I like it the best with ice and condensed milk.
One thing you have to be carefull though is that the Vietnamese bean/coffee has a higher caffeine percentage, especially when you are sensitive to caffeine like I am, it can feel much more uncomfortable afterwards than the coffee you are used to drinking in your office.

here is some more about it (It says non-commercial so I think I can post it): http://www.ineedcoffee.com/02/04/vietnam/
