Anybody else going to this?

Really great bands if your tastes are eclectic.

Friday is a bit lighter than the other days, but, I am eager to see the Blind Boys of Alabama and to check out the hype on Franz Ferdinand. I may stick around for Sheryl Crow but will more likely head over to Stubbs to get a good location for the Modest Mouse show there.

Saturday has lots of highlights for me. Old 97's are a local fave, but, I REALLY cant wait to see the Holmes Brothers live. They are a wonderful NY Gospel/Blues 3-piece with incredible voices and musicianship. Then its over to see Modest Mouse. I'll try to catch as much of Trey Anasasio and the Neville Brothers but the big draw is the pixies. Also playing on Saturday is Big Head Todd, the gourds, G-Love and more.

No getting out early sunday because I have to see Ben Kweller, Elvis Costello, Wilco and then Ben Harper. I'll also be checking out the Roots early in the day, if for no other reason than to hopefully hear 'the seed'.

Cant wait. Check out the lineup as there are lots of great bands that I didnt mention.

Good ideas, thanlks. She would love it if I took her. She LOVES Ben Kweller. She also loves the Holmes Brothers. Although her fave right now is the Hives.

I'm going to check with a couple of the fathers who have done it before and see how much dad/daughter interaction there really is at that event. I mean, if the Dad walks her up or does something where the daughter and dad have a spotlight on them or are the center of attention, I think I gotta show up. But, if the whole 'tribe' sticks together in a group then I won't worry about it and I'll stay through Sunday.

Plan a special father/daughter day (something really special) to make you feel better about missing it and then have the pow-wow videotaped if you can.

I just found out last night that I have to be back early enough Sunday to be present at my daughters 'Indian Princess' induction powwow or somesuch.

I love my daughter, but, man I have got to find a way out of that. I really want to see the Sunday lineup. The funny thing is my wife and daughter wouldnt even give me a hard time, I'm a slave to my own guilt. Damned conscience.

For those of you not familiar, "Indian Princesses" or Guides is a scouting program in the states (maybe elsewhere) for young kids and their dad. My daughter is 5 and this is our 1st year.

COF - come on down, nothing beats Texas Hospitality.

Owen - I cant wait to see the Blind Boys. Have you listened to the Holmes Brothers? If not, I highly recommend them if you dig the Boys.

Saw the Blind Boys in Ireland a few years ago with Bob Dylan, they were tremendous.

I would kill to be at this festival... it's a fantastic lineup. Was even considering driving down...

Agree on the lineup. The cingular stage on Sat is great. Not sure how Dashboard got placed in between Modest Mouse and the Pixies. They are nowhere near their league. I will lose my goodspot to avoid them and catch someone else (trey anastasio).

i am going to be there as well. i'm so happy with the schedule. i'm going to be able to see all the bands that i wanted to. for saturday, i'm probably just going to stay at the cingular stage: going to have a good spot for the pixies and get to see other great bands. unfortunately, that means i'll have to suffer through dashboard confessional, but it will be worth it.
