(And no, I'm not talking about that shitty 80's show starring Richard Mulligan & Kristy McNichol.)

I just dropped my baby off at kindergarten for the first time and I feel like I'm going to boo-hoo. Z. was really happy though, so that helps. Happy to leave me! *sniff*

I need a hug.

Oh man, that would freak me out! Quit calling, you brazen little hussies!

Glad to hear that A. likes kindergarten. Z. keeps complaining that there's no homework! Ah, words to eat someday. . .

Well mere I got my daughter settled in at Kindegarten today.
She loves it.

But...
Girls started calling my son on the phone this weekend!
Ack with a capital A!
2 of them to.
My first instinct was to say, no, no he's not home you little harlot!
(No I did not so don't worry)
But OMGoodness, sigh.

I just hope your kid doesn't push the wendy house down or smash the phone up like I did when I was at kindergarten/nursery.

good call, I have to do my washing in the bath, but if I had children I could make them do it for me, like pet slaves with cute little kiddy clothes

the room smelled like cupids gym

My first born will be going to kindergarten Sept 8th. I'm taking off that day just to see him get on the bus. The wife and I will probably sneek off to the school and watch from a near distance to see how things go. Then we get to do the same thing next year for our little girl. How time flies.

Yesterday she informed me that the kids who don't behave are "really harshing the mellow" for her. Little crazy.

Yeah darwin, those preschool drop-offs were pretty hairy but she seems pretty glad to get to kindergarten in the morning. When she gets home, though, she's insanely irritable. I hope that this unpleasant side-effect will wear off once she gets adjusted to the new schedule. It's as though she's used up all her good for the day and has none left for us. Eek!

Good for you mere! Our daughter loved kindergarten, but preschool was often a very difficult goodbye for her.

Mere, my parents can relate big time - yesterday we moved my little brother (the youngest) into penn state for college, and i have recently moved totally out, so they are all alone and MISERABLE - my mom claims she's on suicide watch for my dad. so just think, you have quite some time before the Princess starts college!

Aw thanks, y'all helped cheer me up. I did alright, although I was most distressed to have The Ramones' "The KKK Took My Baby Away" stuck in my head all day. The hell? At the parent's center at school, they actually had a large basket of handkerchiefs and kleenex to comfort the sad parents. One poor mama came completely unglued. For my part, I modified darwin's excellent suggestion and consoled myself by watching an episode of Queer Eye while lying in bed eating chocolate. That was niice. Maybe now that Z's off to school I will finally be able to tackle the many home-improvement projects that we have neglected lo these six years.

Zelda had a great day, although she did make this observation: "I tell ya, a lot of those kids don't know how to behave."

I actually was dragged to a tele-taping of that horrid show...Mulligan was a complete jerk to the rest of the cast, I kid you not.

...anyway, keeping with the other part of the thread...

My first day in Kindegarten was fine...my mom was more worried than I was. The only drawback was at the end of the day, my teacher put me on the wrong bus. I didn't know where I lived, I was the last kid on the bus, and I burst into tears. The bus driver drove me all over town and found where I was supposed to be delivered. She was a kind and comforting lady, and I remember thinking I was NEVER going to find my home or mom. My mom was waiting for me at the bus stop and I cried for an hour, so happy to be home.

I'm getting all choked up just remebering it. I have to go. There's (sniffle) something in my eye.

Sheesh, I can't believe I only saw this now - what a loser.

I send you big love (as usual!), Sarah. I know Miss Z will love school and have many great stories for you, if that is any consolation.

I can't wait for Kindergarden quotes.

Hope the first day was good for all involved...
