Are any of you watching the Olympic Games? How come nobody talks about it? I enjoy watching sports on TV. Where the hell is Mun Chien?

Right now there will show the fencing finals (épée), and I am very fond of fencing.

So, is Laura Flessel going to be the champion again?

I will show you fear in a handful of dust

Golly, I never noticed that kind of horizontal action when I'd take a break from work and walk down to the beach to watch Karch Kiraly practice.

The September Issue of Playboy magazine has some killer photos of about a dozen olypic women from all of the world, hot, very hot.

Kathryn,

Those are the US women that won the gold.
kathryn Posted - 08/31/2004 : 11:02:44
Which nation are those *athletes* from, Vilainde?

I couldn't believe that GB won the men's 4x100 relay. How did we do it?

I thought this thread needed some special final post to celebrate the greatness of the Olympics in general, and the women beach volley in particular:

Am I ever Wilhelm!
That is awesome news…
I knew it was on today, but since I’m at work, i couldn’t watch it and BBC wouldn’t even have showed it anyways cause the brits suck!

Very nice….

Benji will be pleased about this one. NZ won silver and gold in the men's triathlon. I watched the Greek woman win the 400m hurdles last night. The crowd went wild, Greece must have one collective hangover this morning. Mun Chien A must've partied as well.

Denis I watched the hammer throw. That Russian athlete can sure swing a ball and chain.

You're wrong in one thing. When Spain is the favorite in some match, always lose it. It's mathemathical.

So it looks like I'm obsessed with Russian feminine athletes, but the hammer throw final was great yesterday. Kuzenkova would probably crush all my bones when trying to hug me but I find her cute.

I hope not because in Sydney 2000, the silver medal in Taekwondo (women) was for Vietnam. Their only medal so far. So that one should be for Vietnam, not for Mexico (they have got one now).
There are even Dutch competitors in this event, but if they come out against Vietnam, I donot want them to win.

I'm 34. I guess it should be expected that 13 year olds swim faster than me.

Hehe, there are 13 year old kids who swim me to shame. Lots of them. I just tell myself it is not important how fast I go so long as I enjoy it. Still feel stupid when those kids race past me though....

The media built him up and somewhat tore him down. Great swimmer, nonetheless.

I agree. His agent and sponsors probably manufactured a lot of the hype. It probably backfired. Now some probably see 6 golds and 2 bronze as a failure. I pay attention to swimming every 4 years, but I haven't seen any cocky quotes from him about winning 8 golds and media here was reporting that he was advised not to swim in the 100 Free (bronze) but he wanted the challenge.

The US media (NBC) made such a big deal about Phelps handing off the leg of the final medley relay to Crockett that I felt sorry for Crockett. After the race the story was still about Phelps, rather than Crockett and his teammates.
offerw Posted - 08/23/2004 : 12:09:50
I think he is a brilliant swimmer. The media probably did most of the talking before the games. For such a young guy to do this well at the Olympics is incredible and next time around he might be Mr. "I've got 8 gold medals"

Now. Anyone still swimming? I did my mile in the pool today: 23min11s.

What did you end up thinking of "Mr. I'm going to win 8 gold medals"?
