i just finished his book "hunger" and found the book amazing.

It was the first Hamsun I read, ages ago. Led me to read another three or four of his novels, which are stylistically consistent with it but quite different in subject matter and emotional tone. Read "Pan", a wonderful, somewhat saintly short novel. Hamsun won a Nobel in Literature, for "Growth of the Soil" I believe. But then it used to help to be Scandanavian when it came to Nobels. |
