Now, this is great value

I recently purchased a 3cd and 1 dvd box set by Low for £12.94.
Now, I think this is the best value for money release by any band that I know of…probably ever!.

It’s a set of b-sides and rarities with the dvd having all their videos and a few documentaries, and it’s fabulous.
53 tracks in total with each cd clocking in over 78 mins, all for such a ridiculously low price.

Why don’t more bands do this kind of thing?

Now, I’m not a mega fan of Low – I own a fair few of their records, but not them all, but this was simply too good to pass up, and from listening to it a few times, it really makes me want to buy all their stuff – it’s simply gorgeous.

Highly recommended.

I bought Doolittle and Frank's first two solo albums used. I think I've also seen Cult of Ray in a few used stores, although I bought a new copy.

It bugs me when I see an album I really like in a used CD store. I always think, "Who would want to sell THIS?" On the other hand, if it goes to a good home, that's cool.

I bought that Pretenders CD for 3 pounds on Portobello market.

the only thing you have to think about is what you are buying... I worked in a second hand store...we really rip ya off... it's like 70% profit... crud eh?

But depending on what you like...you can get it a LOT cheaper... I bought The Pretenders GR hits for 5.99... DAMN!!!

2nd hand record stores are fabulous.
but one thing i've found is that they're pretty crap in London.
they were much better back home in NZ.

which is not what i expected.

Down the drain, my boy. Download 'Still Life' and be done with it.

My roommate likes Gene, he was playing it once when I came home. I said "which Smiths is this?" I was asking in all seriousness too.

Coming Up does seem the weakest Suede album, but hey it was only $7.49 which is about 3 pounds.

Dear me. I loathe Suede (bar one song), but you've gone and picked a horrible album there. Back in my Britpop days (despite all my protestations, I was young once - how much I have learned), I was expecting a lot from that album. It sucks.

The Manics one had some good singles on, I'll give you that.

Next you'll be telling me you've stocked up on Gene and Menswe@r.
Nice.

I found "Hide The Kitchen Knives" by The Paper Chase for $2.95 at a used store In Buffalo. What a bargain! I had only heard clips from it before, but I must say it would have been worth purchasing at regular price.

That sounds like a right bargain I.
I love Low to bits, I believe they have a new album scheduled this year, which should be nice.

I LOVE second hand record shops! I love visiting them in other towns and cities when I visit.

I think I'll check out the Low box set Benji.

I bought the Pavement Slow Century DVD at a local cd store a year ago. I think they made a mistake pricing the DVD because it was a new release and cost about the equivalent of $7. It should have cost around $20. The DVD has all the Pavement videos, two live shows and a 60min documentary. A lot for not much money.

Yeah, I'm with HPM on this one. There's a great used records store in Columbus, Ohio...My dad and I spent less than a 150 bucks on Saturday and got 20 albums; 5 of them brand new and still in their wrapping. Got an amazing Hendrix blues compilation for 7 bucks. It's gorgeous.

The only good value I have received had been in sales or second hand record shops.
