Posted - 08/07/2004 : 18:17:15 I saw them all last night in Columbus, OH. The Walkmen's singer has a ton of stage presence and their music is really good--but I fear they are going to become MTV pop stars soon (hopefully not too soon). One of their songs is played in a VW commerical.
The Sound Team from Austin, TX is a truly talented band with SIX guys that can jam! I love them. I even picked up their CD. In some songs, they have 3 keyboards, then the singer switches back to guitar. Their bassist is phenomenal. They are very TMBG meets The Hives.
Stepford Five is a nice band. They seem like they'd be more comfortable in a really small setting, but they also put on a nice show.
Has anyone else see any of these bands play before? |

Posted - 08/09/2004 : 10:58:18 The Rat is wonderfull, the rest of the album is disappointing, but not total shite. But The Rat is great. My friend thinks they sound like a pissed off strokes.

Posted - 08/09/2004 : 10:51:05 I saw The Walkmen the other week but I wasn't too impressed. The Rat is an amazing song and they have a couple of other good ones, but the rest just sound the same.
The singer is huge though and so yeah he has presence. He also has an excellent voice, very powerful, and he really puts everything into his performance.

Posted - 08/07/2004 : 18:25:37 the walkmen are amazing live; i saw them a few weeks ago. they're coming back soon, but they're opening for incubus, so i don't plan on going. sound team is alright. i've seen them three times opening for different bands (i live in austin). the first time, they were absolutely terrible, but they've improved a lot since then. haven't heard of the stepford five. |
